Classic Mercedes Styling………… Full Instrumentation……. 3.8 Liter V8 Powerplant ……… Description: The 380 SE represents Mercedes full-sized model for 1985 with a very practical 3.8 liter V8 supplying the power. These classic Mercedes are true road kings that make your drive very pleasant and enjoyable. Here’s a fine example of one that has been well-cared during its lifetime and has been serviced as needed. This is one of the very nicest classic Mercedes that we have ever had the opportunity to offer. Make this one yours! Options: Finished in bright white with a soft tan accent stripe and tan leather upholstery, this VERY CLEAN 1985 Mercedes 380 SE features about everything that you expect in a German luxury sedan beginning with the smooth and responsive 3.8 liter fuel injected V8 powerplant teamed with a 4-speed automatic transmission, fully automatic climate control featuring a retrofit to R134a refrigerant charge, 4-wheel ABS (anti-lock brakes), power windows, central locking system, power mirrors, power front seats, nice alloy wheels, Alpine® sound system, 4-wheel disc brakes, cruise control, service reminder system, power sunroof, rear window/rear view mirror defroster much more! Yet ANOTHER Clean Southern Ride! This vehicle is riding on a very good set of Michelin ® touring tires! Service and Inspection Report: We brought this clean Mercedes in for service and found it in EXCELLENT and exceptional condition. It appears that the prior owner was very good about service and maintenance. Even the engine oil looks clean. There were a few minor items that we want to note. The brake lining light on the dash is on, yet the brakes are good all the way around. We’re not sure of the reason for the light, but we didn’t find any pads wore down. Most Mercedes of this vintage have climate control issues. This one works EXCELLENT and cools well, even in HOT southern climates. While testing the climate control, we topped off the refrigerant noting that the pressures are well within specs. The electronics work well and the booster fan in front of the condenser comes online when additional cooling is needed. We did note some airflow on the windshield during cooling mode and traced that back to a switchover valve for that vacuum circuit. We went to the Mercedes dealer and purchased the OEM switchover valve, returning the airflow to specifications We finished by testing the entire system and it works just like it was designed. Most dealers would have told you that “dey all do dat”, but we’re not into letting such simple things get passed through to the customer. We fix it right! While we were servicing the climate control system, we installed a new drive belt on the AC system. Turning the compressor take a bit of torque and we wanted the drive belt to be new for hot summer weather. This vehicle is factory-equipped with GM’s tried and true A6 compressor. The system works quite well. We also noted that the rear defogger didn’t function so we traced the problem back to a cracked 30-amp strip fuse. Those fuses are readily available at the dealer so we replaced it for you. The fuse wasn’t “blown”, it was just cracked from age. Fixed. Imagine trying to find a car this nice without the need for thousands of dollars in service work! Shop around and then ADD IT UP! That’s the Grove Automotive Group, Inc. difference.
