Vehicle Detail
1968 Datsun 510 This is a 1968 Datsun 510 racecar. I bought this car out of a barn years ago and I have had it in dry storage while I collected parts for the restoration. Recently, my focus has changed to other Datsun racecars so I’m offering this for sale to any racers who may be seriously interested in this 510. This is a unique opportunity and includes some very rare parts. If you know about vintage Datsun 510s I'm sure you recognize the significance of the rare parts included with this car. Send me any questions you may have and I will email you back with my email and phone number so we can discuss details. My goal was to build a front running 510 to race in vintage events on the east coast. The car is apart and needs restoration. This is a rare and desirable 1968 2-door with typical period BRE style modifications. It has 240Z brakes, weight jackers, spherical bearings in all the suspension points, adjustable lower a-arms, etc. I have logbooks back to 1980 and the logbook will be signed over to the new owner with a bill of sale. This is a racecar so there is no title. The car was last raced in 1990. The cage is 1.5” 0.095” DOM. The horizontal brace for the driver’s seat needs to be added once the seat position is established for the new owner's preference. The piece of DOM tubing for this will be provided to the new owner. Chassis:1968 2 door Floors replaced, raised floor for tunneled exhaust.Pockets for jacking the car at the rocker panel. New correct 1968 specific front valance and rocker piece included. Complete new BRE bodywork and spoiler, not installed (CDM fiberglass) Complete spare set of new CDM fenders and rear flares 2 sets of new front and rear window gaskets New Nissan front and rear bumpers in factory wrappers Many spare rare 68 grilles and headlight surrounds, tail lights Hood mold to make your own hoods Drive trains: Includes two FIA 2 liter engines, these are the engines from David Frelsen’s National championship HL510 (JE pistons, 8 mm valves, Carrillos. One is 6" rods one 5.75") Both these engines have manifolds and 50mm carbs. One engine has the pistons, rods and cam out and in a box. These engines have boxes with spares, spare rod/piston, valves, etc. New custom made Stahl header to fit with the FIA engines in the 510 with tunneled exhaust Nissan Comp MC od 5 spd (long tail) 2 Nissan stock roadster 5 spds as spares Tilton aluminum flywheel (14) 13 x 7 libra wheels (6 of these are unilug and would need inserts installed (I planned on inserts for all), 2 of those are new) Gaskets and bearings to keep the engines going: (22) Nissan comp pan gaskets (1) copper intake gasket (5) head gaskets (10) FIA intake gaskets (8) sets of 0.25 main bearings for FIA engines (3.5) sets of 0.25 rod bearings for FIA engines Parts to build a 3rd FIA engine and spares: 1 old style FIA head iron towers (needs some chamber repairs) Used L20b block and prepped crank (2) new FIA old style manifolds (2) Mallory racing distributors (1 new in box) (1) single point Nissan distributor Set of used 6” Carrillos with used JE race pistons 3 Nissan comp oil pans. 2 with external oiling mods.
