Vehicle Detail
1969 Baja Beetle Up for sale is a 1969 Baja Beetle. I first got the car back in 2007. I lost interest on offroad VWs then moved into lowered and original VWs. This one hasnt seen much action since 2007. The baja does have an electronic ignition on a 009 distributor. Bolt on valve covers. A fairly new 34 pic 3 carb. The car also has newer brakes that work great. New shoes, wheel cylinders and master cylinder. The paint on the car is a 20 footer paint job. It is presentable but by no means perfect. There is NO RUST in the heater channels or in the floor pans. The baja kit was installed nicely and fits well. The car has been sitting but still fires right up. I am sure it could stand to have a tune up. The car has been upgraded from a generator to and alternator. It has a unbaffled stinger exhaust. Its does puff a little white smoke sometimes which is usually from condensation in the exhaust. It could also be caused by the valves not being adjusted correctly. (it has been sitting after all) White smoke is condensation. The exhaust is an upwards stinger open to the elements. When you see blue smoke it is oil... that is not the case here. The baja also comes with a second, known good, dual port engine. The second engine is tapped for full flow and complete valve cover to valve cover. The baja had the exterior fuel door welded up and an earlier beetle gas tank installed. At one point there was a fuel cell in the back where the rear seat would have been. That was removed and the rear seat was put back in. There is still a hole behind the passenger rear window that will need to be capped if you continue to use the early tank. The rear trailing arms are boxed and much stronger than stock trailing arms. The car has a raised front beam also giving it a lifted stance. The interior has decent seats. There is minimal carpet inside. Aluminum dash and a bunch of gauges that I having gotten around to hooking up yet. The tires have good tread but are older and dry. They all still hold air and would most likely be fine for a while. Trans shifts through all gears just fine. The rear windows are tinted. Has a sunvisor and side brush guards. the car is by no means perfect but a great project baja Not pictured but included is the rear engine cage that matches the front bumper. here are some videos of the car: walkaround http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfeVy2Ka6uE driving through the yard http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZMe6jieOg9E backing into the driveway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LaNZT-s0OwM On Jul-14-11 at 17:12:54 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had people ask about driving it home 8+ hours away. As stated in the description above the car has been sitting for a while unused. It runs and drives but I wouldnt try a long trip home before giving it a tune up and adjusting the valves. It runs and drives has been sitting. I would suggest using a towbar or a trailer to pick it up.
