A completely rust free 1980 Mercedes-Benz 300CD is the star of our current auction. The high points of this California original classic include a low 112,083 mileage, a beautiful metallic green finish and an upgraded automatic climate control/ air conditioning system. The car drives extremely well, with excellent brakes, suspension and tires. Typical of W123 Chassis cars, road handling is a solid 10 out of 10, with excellent turning and bump absorption. The original Mercedes-Benz alloy wheels are in almost perfect condition, and contrast the uncommonly seen metallic green paint. The sunroof operates properly, and all gauges and lights are indicating correctly. The low mileage contributes to a nice tight driving car. Engine / transmission / rear axle systems are all in excellent operating order. The ACC system (Automatic Climate Control) has been recently upgraded, at an approximately $1500 cost. The original climate control system has a complicated vacuum / electric / clockwork mechanism that controls the amount of hot water admitted for heat, blower fan level, and / or duration of A/C compressor operation. ( Google Mercedes Climate Control Servo for the details). Unfortunately, servo units all become unreliable. The modern upgrade is a digital servo replacement. This car received that upgrade, installed by a Mercedes-Benz Factory trained technician. Other items serviced during the upgrade included relays, vacuum switches, and electrical system components. The end result is air conditioning that will make you put on long sleeves. All of the bright work is in great shape. All lenses and lighting fixtures are free from imperfections. The summary: a low mileage 100% rust free car, that drives and looks great. The color is outstanding, with a contrasting parchment interior. There minimal imperfections (nicks/ chips/or scratches in various areas, (see photos) but the car presents extremely well. Ideal for using as is, or converting to bio-fuels.
