Up for auction we have a 1998 vw jetta TDI. It has the 1.9L 4cyl turbo charged diesel and a 5 speed transmission. stick shift. Its s decient shape for the year. Its dark green with the light tan leather interior. That tdi package included aluminum wheels, sunroof, power windows and locks. All with work fine. These cars get great gas mileage, depending how you drive it you should get 48-52mpg and having the turbo charger gives them the extra pep to get up and go. So with that said lets get in to the car a little further, so you know what your buying here. Currently the car DOESN'T run it wont start, it try's to just won't. I don't have the time to play with it and figure it out. I've changed a few things, thinking that may be it. It has a new 109 relay, new crank position sensor, glow plugs, fuel cut off valve( on the pump)... and a few other things. Things I know about it, its getting fuel, pulling it form the tank to the pump and injecting it, timing belt had about 15-20 k miles on it, same with the water pump. The timing is dead on, pump, cam and crank. The compression is strong when you spin the motor. .The injection pump was changed it self at one time, don't know for sure but would guess it has about 60-75k miles on it. That should also be the time injectors were changed. the clutch was changed right around 200k too. So that has around 60k on it. I bought the car form a friend, not running about 6 weeks ago. Thought i would have the time to look at it and get it running, but that turns out to be not the case. Work way to much. I though it would be interesting to get 50 mpg, not using a half gas half electric plastic toy. Interior is in decent shape, there is one piece on the back seat were the leather stitching separated. about 3 inched long at one of the seems. Not ripped, the seem stitching came apart, easy fix. The interior will need to be cleaned, the car was driven not covered with seat comers and 5 floor mats one on top of the other. It definitely wasn't abused though. As you could see in the pictures the paint shines, only blemishes. One of the top of the fender driver side the clear coat pealed in a couple spots, but thats the only place. And on the passenger side wheel well, there's 2 small dents. Other then that the body is in good shape. And it was not washed for the pictures. That is the way it looked since i got it. I'm in no way shape or form trying to prove the car is what its not. Its a 98 it has 262k on the clock, don't let that scare you there cars go well over 500k.It does not run i don't know why, If I had to guess I would say injection timing or some thing simple and stupid that I don't have the time to find, or fix. This will make a great car to someone who could fix it. With all that in mind bid accordingly. Any vw tdi goes for top dollar running, if you know about them buy it, fix it and make a few bucks. It will need to be towed home. I will be helpful assisting in loading the car up with you. Or possible deliver it at buyers expense. with in 200 miles (for compensation). If you want to arrange to get it shipped ill do what i can to help, but keep in mind it doesn't run. I dont know how they go about shipping non running cars. The car has a clear new jersey title that will be given to the buyer, that is where I picked it up from. Although, it is sitting in Pennsylvania.
