Vehicle Detail
This is a nice 1976 Volkswagon Bus This is a No Reserve Auction. 2000 cc fuel injected engine that starts and runs well. Transmission shifts smooth and easy. stays in every gear and no grinding. All doors open and close very easily, even the sliding door. All locks work. Tires have like near new tread, but not sure how old they are. The interior is in pretty good condition considering its age, and it appears to all be original. There is a quarter size hole in the drivers seat and a dime size hole in the passenger front seat as well as a small cut in the side of the middle bench seat. I posted pics of all. Someone put carpet throughout the bus, I removed the middle section (I still have it and its in nice condition) and found the rubber mat underneath to be in like new condition so I left the carpet out. Back seat folds down, so it can be used as a bed. Windows are tinted and slightly reflective. All seat belts for all seats are present. Middle seat easily removes. Original jack and lug wrench under passenger front seat. New factory color paint top and bottom. Original headliner in good condition. Original hubcaps (some slight dings on a couple of them). All glass is in good shape. Here is the story on this Bus. I was told that the original owners lived in Phoenix, AZ. and the bus was purchased there. In 1995 the second owner bought it and it spent the next five years in Prescott, AZ. At this point the bus began to die when the excellerator was pushed, so it was parked for the next ten years until the third owner bought it to restore in November 2010 then sold it to me. I discovered that the problem with the engine was only a fuel line that had swelled inside until there was only a 1/8th inch opening which of course is not enough to do more than idle. Now with that fixed, it will easily leave rubber on pavement and is very impressive with power. I had no idea these things ran this strong! When I got it, I was pleased to see no major dents, only small dings, and no rust except for a very small hole under the battery which I cleaned up and rivited in galvanized metal then undercoated it to prevent problems. The white paint on top was begining to wear off, so I wire wheeled it down to bare metal and epoxy primered the entire exterior with Shop line brand two part epoxy primer. I then painted it with three coats of 1976 factory colors in a paint booth. The paint looks pretty nice, although it wouldnt hurt to buff it if you want a smoother glass like finish. I replaced both rear tail light assemblies, rear side markers and both outside mirrors, and glove box (all new). I also replaced the condensor, and valve cover gaskets. The horn and the fuel guage are not working, not sure why. It still has the original AM Signature Radio! I added two cans of freon to the air conditioner and it started blowing cold. I did note a small wet spot on one of the air conditioning hoses, so it will likely need replaced. I have the second owners registration paperwork along with a couple of his reciepts which indicate the time frame that he owned it, and I will provide these to the new owner in case you want them for your file. The previous owner stated that the 48,800 miles were original, but the title does state (B) which means it is in excess of its mechanical limits. It seems more reasonable to believe 148,800 miles with this year of vehicle, but I can say that with the nice condition that it is in and the power that it has, he could possibly be right. If your looking to own one of these, I can bet you will be very happy with this one. I started the bidding at 4500, so that I dont get beat up too much by not having a reserve, but I just watched one without air conditioning and with rust bubbles in the paint sell for 6750., so surely this will bring at least that much. I am located near I-40 by Seligman, AZ with easy access. I require $500 deposit via paypal within 48 hours of auctions end and the balance in cash at time of pickup. I may be able to deliver it for 1.50 per loaded mile, but please ask first. I have descibed the Bus as best I can, and am willing to answer any questions. I treat people like I want to be treated, so bid with confidence! Thanks, and Good luck bidding! On Jul-09-11 at 18:08:33 PDT, seller added the following information: I fixed the problem with the horn, it was not making contact under the button, but works well now. I had ordered a new glove box, but was sent the wrong one. I will either get a new one ordered or adjust the price to make the buyer happy.
