Vehicle Detail

1984 Oldsmobile Cutlass Calais Coupe (like Supreme but with more sport options) I am the original owner of this car and have taken meticulous care of it for the last 27 years; oil was changed every 3,000 miles and I only used GM certified mechanics for repairs (record kept of every repair). The current mileage is 144,275 and it still has a lot of power. This car was made in the good old USA (Lansing, Michigan). I still have all of the original paper work including the window sticker and manuals. The car was never in a major accident but did have one minor dent removed from the front fender. CarFax reports a rear-end accident but they are wrong (see note below). I always kept the seats covered and the interior is clean and never smoked in. The headliner was replaced within the last two years and I just replaced the window felt (from Steele Rubber). The car has always been in the south and has no rust underneath. This is a very mechanical sound automobile and it wouldn’t take much to make it a show car. I had intended to make this a show car but now I have too many other hobbies. This sale is as-is with no warranties expressed or implied. No international sales and no bids accepted if you have no (zero) feedback. No delivery, buyer must pick-up within 10 days after auction ends. Features and options: The Calais Model was manufactured from 1978-1984 and offered a more sporty trim level than the popular Cutlass Supreme. The Calais came standard with reclining bucket seats, console, sport steering wheel, better handling suspension with rear sway bar, faster-ratio steering, blacked out headlight trim, full instrumentation with tach (same as the Hurst/Olds and later 442 models), color-keyed Olds Rallye wheels, contrasting vinyl top, the Olds 307 4-bbl V-8, plus a host of other comfort and convenience options. Also included are fiber-optic light monitors and limited slip differential. 5.0 liter (307 CID) V8 - 4 BBL 3 speed automatic transmission Air conditioning (converted to R-134 about 10 years ago) Dark Blue Metallic 2- Door 6 way power bucket driver’s seat (also reclining) Power windows Tilt steering with sport steering wheel Rallye cluster gauges w/ tachometer Sport mirrors Console with floor shifter Lamp monitor for front and rear lights (fiber optic system) Clarion AM/FM/CD stereo with detachable faceplate Original space saver and full size spare included Repairs/ work needed: Power Antenna (Motor works but needs new gear drive) Cruise control (mechanic said a module behind the dash that needed replacing) Wiper switch (wipers work but only at one speed) Paint faded Trip odometer reset not functioning 7/5/2011 Update: I did some searching in my paperwork and found the accident report. The accident was actually on 8/1/1997, so CarFax is wrong on the damage location and the date. The vehicle that hit me was damaged on the rear bumper. Total repairs to my car was $949.72 (labor $737.28 including paint; parts $196.70 & tax $15.74). From the report it appears that my left front trim clipped his rear bumper. Years before this accident I scrapped the right front fender on my carport post and had the fender repaired at a body shop. No accident report was completed for that incident since no other vehicle was involved and the damage was minor. 7/6/2011 Update: I've got the build sheet for the car and it is in like new condition. It does pay to be a pack rat sometimes! I also have the catalytic converter for the car. I had a "test pipe" put in place of the converter years ago. I didn't change or modify anything else, so it ought to pass an emissions test if the converter was reinstalled. I was asked if I would trust the car on a road trip and the answer is yes. If you need to drive to the west or northeast coast from Alabama, you could depend on this car. 7/7/2011 Update: I had a couple of inquires about rust. There is no rust on the doors (including bottoms) as well as the undercarriage and floorpans. As soon as I get time I'll add some pictures. For the winning bidder, I will be offering to sell many new old stock (NOS) and used spare parts I have collected over the years (including a set of shop manuals). I had intended to use them one day for the restoration. If the winning bidder does not wish to buy them, I will sell the items on EBay. I can e-mail you the list of items but will not sell them until the auction has ended. There is no rust on the doors (including bottoms) as well as the undercarriage and floorpans. As soon as I get time I'll add some pictures. 7/9/2011 Update: Gee, this is getting like a blog! I found out the rear axle was not a limited slip, so I corrected the description above. I apologize for the inaccuracy. I also added some pictures of the door areas that are prone to rust. For the winning bidder, I will be offering to sell many new old stock (NOS) and used spare parts I have collected over the years (including a set of shop manuals). I had intended to use them one day for the restoration. If the winning bidder does not wish to buy them, I will sell the items on EBay. On Jul-09-11 at 14:08:27 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry for the double post on the description above; I intended the only update to be for 7/9/11 about the rear axle and the added pictures. (I didn't realize that posting description updates is different after someone bids on your item).
