Up for sale is a 1984 Jeep CJ-7. I have owned ths vehicle since around 2001. I purchased it from a retired engineer that used to work at Boeing. After he bought it he immediately pulled the wimpy little 4 Cylinder motor out of it and replaced it with a Chevy V-8 , 304 Cu/In. engine. That motor is the one that is currently in it and it runs nice and strong. It has a 3 speed manual transmission, which I assume is original. There are 4-wheel drive hubs on the front wheels, and a transfer case shifter on the floorboard next to the gear shifter. It has a hard top that is securely bolted but removeable . According to the current Odometer reading versus the mileage shown on the title when I received it, I have put 10,891 miles on this jeep in the last 10 years. 122,000 miles were put on the original 4 cylinder engine, only 34,000 miles have been put on the V-8 motor that is in it now over the last dozen years. This jeep has received very gentle use since I have owned it. I used it mainly for running around in the forest during the summer months, camping trips, or transporting my quad on a trailer. I have too many vehicles and toys, and I am in the process of relocating 5 States away, so this is one of my toys that has to go. The sun has caused a few minor problems on the hood and the hardtop. There are a few places on the hood and the hard top where the paint is spot peeling and the original primer is exposed, the majority of places are about the size of a quarter. This jeep DOES NOT have a rust problem. Now, If you are one of those guys that plans on keeping it covered with mud 80% of the time, then I doubt if any of that will even bother you. There was a 6000 # pound winch mounted on the front at one time, but it has been removed. Another winch could easily be installed if the buyer is so inclined. This IS NOT one of those jeeps that is made from plastic and gets 35 miles a gallon. This is a work horse, the body is steel, and it is tough as nails, much the way they used to make ALL jeeps before they started Yuppy-fying them. There is no computer system under the hood to make your life miserable, and you can pretty much work on this thing with a pair of pliers and a couple of screwdrivers, more or less. You could probably pull your house down the street with this thing if you could figure out how to hook on to it. The suspension on this jeep is AS MANUFACTURED, it has not been lifted, modified, raised or tampered with at all . The funnest part of owning a Jeep is customizing it and rigging it up the way you want it. This Jeep is pretty much ready to do just that, although it is fine to use just like it is. Below I will list what it has available on it, and what is not. I’ll probably forget something or leave something out, you can e-mail me if that is the case. Included or has 304 V-8 Motor taken from a Chevrolet camaro (originally a 4 cylinder) 3 Speed manual transmission 4_wheel hubs on front and transfer case shifter on floor tan fiberglass hard top. (removable) , bronze tinted windows 3 sides of hardtop power steering power brakes twin seats in front, small seat in rear, seat belts for all removable plastic console between seats (furnished by me) tan bikini top with mounting strip and screws (strip must be removed to install hard top) swing up rear hatch with key lock swing away spare tire holder and tire with lug lock (tire has never been on the ground) two steel doors with factory upholstery and standard jeep door hasp and thumb locks. rollup/down windows on passenger/driver doors rear tailgate w/ small storage area behind rear seat (for tool boxes, jacks, gear, beer, etc.) factory hitch and ball ( 1 7/8”) (I pulled a 5' x 8' ATV trailer with this all the time) CD player/Radio (aftermarket) tied into front and rear speakers --Works Good !! Padded roll bar Standard jeep gauges, steering wheel, lockable glove box Carpet floor mats (installed by me) Standard factory heater Fabricated extended pipe bumper on front (installed by me) Driving lights on front bumper (installed by me) Steel mesh guards to protect front and rear lights from damage Stainless steel perforated plate to protect radiator Light bar with 4 off road lights (currently not wired or switched) Dual exhaust with muffler and inline Glass-Pak muffler. Dual front tow hooks for rescuing your friends. scissor jack, spare oil filter, bikini top, manual for V-8 motor (shown in picture above) DOES NOT HAVE, OR NEEDS WORK: No Air conditioner/A.C. compressor/ venting for air conditioner (who needs it with the top off ?) Has a factory dashboard, but it is cracked and faded (a dash cover and velcro would fix this ) B.F. Goodrich off road tires (look okay, but condition unknown due to sun/sitting) I noticed some pine tree sap on the roof of the hardtop. Can be taken off with bug and tar remover or ignored altogether. Gas gauge sticks/malfunctions-works sometimes, sometimes not. Tank float likely culprit. Radio antennae bent but intact after winter storm dropped branch on it. Radio still has fine reception. Does not have cruise control. The front windshield has a hairline crack in it, this happened sometime in the last week, most likely due to the heat while I was washing it with cold water on a hot day. I am absolutely pissed off about it, and as of yet, have not decided to replace it or sale it as is with the crack. If I am unable to replace it, I will credit back the buyer $200 from their final bid price. If I can find one pretty quick and replace the windshield, then your final bid price will stand. This jeep has seen little use for the last 3 or 4 years, not that there is anything wrong with it, I just haven't taken it out much. It runs pretty good, but a good tune up and some TLC would be a good idea prior to taking it out for extended trips. (CYA advice) This Jeep has the standard scrapes and scratches that any Jeep would have of this year and model, but all in all it is in great shape.
