ONE OWNER RUST-FREE, ONE OWNER RUST-FREE, ONE OWNER RUST-FREE!!!!!!!! YES, you read that correctly, this is the one you want! A one owner, rust-free 280E! Being a vehicle that's traveled just 3,501 miles per year, this is clearly a well respected and pampered Mercedes-Benz. Having received the car directly from the Mercedes-Benz factory by an import specialist, the condition of the interior is the most revealing evidence of how this car has been so sparingly occupied by an obvious non-smoking enthusiast. The door-panels, carpets, dash, headliner and upholstery are all in near-new condition and need no attention other than to be enjoyed and admired. All of the interior accessories are in working order including the cruise control, factory sunroof, and original pneumatic door-locking system. Aside from its incredibly fresh condition, what is most charming about the interior of this car is that it still has the unmistakable smell of a Mercedes-Benz. (anyone familiar with these old Benzes knows the rich, intoxicating aroma to which I refer that made these cars so special--the newer ones just don't have the smell or the mystique). Please pay particular attention to the photos of the trunk, spare-tire well and rocker-panels/jack points--all totally original and rust-free. This car is 100% road-worthy and can be driven absolutely anywhere. The transmission shifts properly and the engine runs well. It does however suffer from the occasional puff of smoke out the tailpipe if left to sit for more than a week without running, which does not render it undriveable, yet in the interest of full disclosure, we believe it needed to be mentioned.. (It does not ever overheat, and the smoke is clearly from oil and not coolant) We have driven this car recently on 90+ degree days with the air conditioning on and the temperature never even got halfway up the gauge. Additionally, the Oil Pressure gauge is pegged to the max pin even at idle! Yes, the air-conditioning works, it does not make the frigid air that we are all accustomed to in more contemporary cars, but the compressor and blower fan function. It appears that this car must have spent most of its time indoors, because all of the brightwork is still gleaming and rust free. Even the rubber/chrome molding along the beltline is still fresh and intact--very unusual! The next owner of this car can take delivery at our facility with the intention of driving it absolutely anywhere. Just a thought--what a great swap-out candidate for the bullet-proof diesel motor and transmissions that all of you Mercedes fans have in your rusted out 300d's!!! Please pay particular attention to our auction as our reserve price is very reasonable and justifiable for such a rare, wholesome, vintage Mercedes-Benz. We are a family owned and operated dealership serving the same community since 1977. Please feel free to call us or email us with any questions. This car is currently residing in our showroom and can be seen at any time during our business hours. Because of the origin of this Mercedes, having being imported directly from Germany, the VIN is unable to be decoded by eBay, therefore a report was not able to be automatically generated through eBay's loading process. However we have viewed a CarFax report for this car. The VIN is WDB1230331A210407. Please contact us with any questions in this regard.
