Vehicle Detail
1999 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird Damaged, torn down, but it runs and I have the title. And, yes, it has a reserve, but it's just enough to keep me from killing myself. Alright, here it is. I've been riding for 20 years and always love the XX, so I bought this one. I used to ride it to work every day from West Hollywood to Pasadena. One day some schmuck changes lanes and pushes me over a curb. I intended to get it fixed, but in the meantime I bought a beater CB750 Nighthawk. Two weeks later, someone turns left in front of me and the Hawk gets creamed. So I stopped riding for a while. I keep telling myself I'm going to go back and fix them both, but I haven't in three years. Now I need some extra scratch, so I'm selling them both. This was one hell of a ride, though, and it would pull so hard you'd think you were going to fly off the back. The Good: 1999 to 2001 bikes were the most powerful of the Blackbirds at 164 hp (up from the carbureted 97-98 model's132 hp and before they detuned the 2002 and future models to 152 hp) It runs. It doesn't have a battery, but I can hook it up to one and it will start. It's got a Power Commander, but the rest is stock. The seat is in good shape and I have an extra that has a tear. The exhaust cans are in good shape as well. I have most of the original parts, including some of the plastic, the headlight and the gauges. I have another gas tank, but it's blue Hey! Undertail kit! I have the title. I haven't ever transferred it over, but I have it and the bike is registered in my name. The Bad: However, it hasn't been registered since 2008 and I have no idea what the status is on that. The Ugly: It's got a dented tank It's got road rash on the right side covers It's got a small crack in the oil pan so it leaks oil right now. It needs new steering bearings (I will include a brand new set of tapered bearings) The exhaust isn't all the way connected, so it makes the expected amount of noise when it's running. The oil cooler bracket is broken. Due to the bad steering bearings the front steering is loose. So, no, you can't take it for a test ride and I would strongly advise against riding it home. Here's all of the stuff they changed in '99: PGM FI fuel injection. LBS with altered proportioning between front and rear. Fuel tank capacity is increased from 22 to 24 liters. The choke lever is removed from the left side switch assembly as it is no longer necessary. lower and wider oil cooler. The inner and outer fork bushings are wider, changing the fork lowers and sliders. The sidestand warning light on the instrument cluster becomes the FI warning light. The wide part of the front axle (left side) becomes 10 mm longer, which makes the left-front axle space 10 mm shorter. The two bulbs in the tail light are vertically aligned, in previous years they were side by side. Front wheel hub is enlarged, the brake rotors are changed. The ignition switch is changed, and the keys are longer. The rotor carriers, stator cover and clutch cover are a light titanium color. The number of clutch plates is reduced from nine to seven. The rear inner fender changes shape to accommodate additional electronics. Manufacturer's power and torque figures are 164 hp (122.3 Kw) and 91.5 ft-lbs (124 Nm) On Jun-29-11 at 15:35:47 PDT, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention that there are two small dents in the frame. One is where the fairing standoff sheared and the other is just behind that, I'm assuming from hitting the curb. They frame seems to be okay, though, the bike runs straight. Here's a pic:
