Up for bid is a 1996 Chevy K1500 extended cab 4X4 with the 6.5L turbo diesel. Truck is being sold as a project for it will need to be repaired before it can be driven. If winning bidder truck will most likely need to be towed or trailered. If local you may be able to get it home but not suggested. Looking to sell quickly and do not have time to fix myself. Truck was working fine until this winter when computer code P0335 came up. This is the Crank Position Sensor code. When this sensor is not working the truck if able to start will only run in limp mode which retards the timing to a base config. Every now and then I am able to start the truck without the error but very seldom. Truck then drives and works fine. I am not a master mechanic but do know that the 6.5L diesel is very sensative and could be a number of issues that can cause various codes to be thrown. It is the winning bidders responsibility to diagnose and fix the truck. I am only able to give you the current code in the computer and any other details you ask for. Truck is sold as is with NO Warranty. Truck can be viewed if scheduled ahead of time. Overall Condition: Exterior: This would be a good work truck. Normal rust for this series of truck. Clear coat is coming off in areas. Interior: Okay condition. Some stains and holes but is not trashed. Drivetrain: Much noted below. Trans, brakes and 4x4 were working fine prior to engine code. Engine was working great and still getting 15-22 mpg with the diesel. Once the sensor or whatever is diagnosed is fixed the base engine should still have many miles left in it. ******The Good****** Working 4X4 Transmission was replaced by prior owner 2.5 years ago and still shifts and runs great SS Diesel Remote PDM and cooler Power window Power locks Power mirrors Power Steering Good Tires Matching topper Plastic bed liner Remote key fobs (2) CD Player Hitch Aftermarket boost gauge ******The Bad****** Rust in normal areas for this truck (Cab corners, bed wheel wells, and lower doors) Damge to front of hood, grill and bumper. Hood still closes fine just visual damage. ABS light is on. Have not investigated reason. Truck still stops fine I am guessing a hub sensor. AC was partially removed by prior owner. Pulled off compress which is shot for the bearing was going out. Eliminator pully put in place of. Most of the system has been removed so probably not worth adding back in. Tail gate is pretty bad and should be replaced. Lower hinge has rusted away and latching system is rigged. Windshield has chip inside from rear view mirror coming off. Drivers seat mount will need to fixed. It gives a little. Common on these trucks. Bracket needs to be bolted or welded. Will not come with batteries. I have some that I have borrowed if coming to see truck but will not be included. Truck must be picked up within 7 days unless arranged ahead of time.
