I purchased the car in 2004 and drove the Porsche for several years. The car ran great and was very reliable and had at that time had the original 2.7 motor with oil leaks. In 2008 the car went into a professional shop (Air Cooled Classics) in Knoxville TN for a new 3.3 euro turbo engine swap with 56,000 miles on it purchased from a west coast supplier. Upon arrival at the shop here in TN prior to install the new engine failed a leak down test and was suggested by the mechanic and team that it should be completely rebuilt. The motor was completely torn down, rebuilt and all new parts, seals, bearings and gaskets were purchased and installed on the rebuild. The engine has zero miles on it after rebuild and has never been fired up, Due to the increased horse power new axles were installed, a new performance clutch, pressure plate and flywheel were installed with rebuild, the 5 speed transmission was disassembled, rebuilt and new syncros were put in the transmission. This Porsche does not have a G50 transmission. Just before the car was finished due to the economy I am told the repair shop suddenly went out of business while I was in FL on a long term assignment and I was not notified. The car sat outside inside a secure area but somehow was broken into, the targa top, and gauges were stolen from the car. The car sat outside in the elements for several months until I was able to get it covered. I was unable to find the owner of the business and the Porsche sat there until 2 months ago when I had it delivered back safely to my garage. The paint will need attention on both quarter panels and driver door as pictures show and or may need a complete paint job but could be patched with paint work on both quarter panels and drivers door. All pictures were just taken and that is the current views of the car.I have removed the interior to cleanup and see if they were any damage to the floor panels, which there is not. Included with the purchase is new black carpet set, and black leather door panels which I had previously purchased. The car has a Infinity Amp and Sony Deck MP3 – CD – XM radio.To finish the car to my knowledge and as previously told by my mechanic the car needs a muffler system and oil cooler and now add the gauges and Targa top from being stolen, I have a targa cover as shown in one of the pictures but it is just a cover. I had previously replaced the seats with a new electric adjustable Porsche seats but they were damaged from the elements and I believe they can be re-covered or will need to be replaced, they will come with this auction as well as all the parts I have for the car. I am sure there may be other small parts for final assembly but the majority of the car is intact and ready to be finished hence the car is being sold as a project car with a clean title. To my knowledge the car has never been hit or in an accident, there is a dent on the engine hood in back and the front spoiler has hit a bumps but I was going to replace with the new oil cooler. Unfortunately due to shop closing I do not have receipts but all the work was done as described above.I am selling this car because I have changed careers and now help non-profits and do not have the time or budget to finish, I have a commercial building that needs major work from some recent storm damage and I need the funds to address. I have owned Porsches for many years – If you like this classic style car and do not want to pay for a 930 this maybe your car. The car has always had top service and a very talented mechanic did the rebuild with no short cuts, I have over $30K invested in this project. The expensive work is done now and with final assembly, paint and interior you will have a real car on your hands that has zero miles on it.
