Vehicle Detail
For Sale is my 1984 GMC Jimmy which was completely rebuilt from the frame up and has been back on the road for 2 years. I have pictures and receipts to show for everything done. For the most part, all moving parts and wear items were either rebuilt or replaced with heavy duty aftermarket parts. My goal was to build a solid, reliable, daily driver that was capable of going where I wanted it to. For the last 2 years it has been my primary daily driver, and it has never let me down. It's built to be rugged and dependable with decent road manners. I've got a few too many toys right now and need to pare things down a bit so I'm putting this up for sale. It's not beautiful, it's not refined, it's not perfect. It has a few small quirks that I haven't gotten around to fixing but it is all small stuff. If you are looking for a show truck, or something perfect, this isn't your truck. If you want something that you can drive daily, will work hard, and show attitude this will probably be of interest. I've never off roaded this, however I built it to have a reasonable offroad capability. Here are some specifics: • 1984 GMC Jimmy Sierra Classic • 2.5" lift with 33x12.5x15 Firestone Destination AT tires (only 6,000 miles on them, like new) • Mickey Thompson Classic aluminum wheels (look nice when shined up) • Roughly 12,000 miles on the odometer since the restoration - it is essentially a new vehicle, all components were thoroughly gone through and rebuilt or replaced • Power Windows, locks, and power rear window • Interior completely redone, front seats from a 1995 Silverado (very comfortable), All seats recovered with neoprene seat covers from Wet Okole • Body has no rust, all rusted panels were replaced during the restoration, entire underbody coated with Eastwood Anti-Rust and undercoated. Entire exterior is painted in flat black Duplicolor Bed Liner (easy to repair and touch up, no waxing..just hose off and it looks good). • All steering joints replaced with MOOG heavy duty components, suspension has all polyurethane bushings, greasable joints and bolts used whenever possible • Both axles rebuilt (bearings & Seals), Rear axle has a PowerTrax LockRight locker. 3.42:1 gear ratio • Engine is a 1975 Chevy Small Block 400 bored to a 406 with TBI injection, 454 injectors and custom burned chip to support the engine and mods, Lunati Voodoo cam, Holly Projection intake manifolds. Heavy duty Summit Racing aluminum radiator with electric fan keeps everything nice and cool. • SM465 4 speed manual transmission with a 45lb flywheel and heavy duty 12" clutch. • 31 Gallon Poly gas tank • Hydroboost power brakes Too much to list. Almost everything you can imagine that would eventually have to be fixed on an older Chevy has been done. Like I said above, I have reciepts pictures and documentation to show what was done with it. The truck comes with a set of Cooper Discoverer STT off road tires 33x12.5 mounted on steel 15x10 rims (good for winter or off road use). I found them to be too loud on the road for normal driving so I bought the Firestones. I also have several other spare parts specific to this truck that I will include. Now you are wondering about gas mileage. It gets about 14MPG if you keep your foot out of it. Serious inquiries only. I have too much invested to give it away for less than my reserve which is very reasonable (in my opinion). It is no longer registered or inspected, however I have 25 acres of field and wooded trails that can be used for test drives for interested parties. Listed for sale locally. Reserve the right to cancel the auction early if the reserve is not met. I've recieved a few questions that I thought I would include the answers to: "Few Small Quirks" = Drivers side power lock quit working a few weeks back. Not sure why, probablly simple. Since putting the truck on the road, I've had problems with the rear exhaust hangers. I've tried everything I could find but they keep breaking. Right now they are wired up while I was looking for a better solution. The speedometer reads 5MPH slow at 55, 3MPH slow at 35...Just a function of the tires being 2" larger than stock. The PowerTrax lock right takes a bit of getting used to on dry roads, but functions as it should (just installed early this spring). Stuff like that. I don't think anyone with realistic expectations of a 1984 GMC will be disappointed. Will the truck make a long drive? = Up until a week ago, this was my daily driver. I've maintained it as if I was going to keep it for a long time. In the last 6 months it has made a few 4 and 5 hour (one way) trips with no issues. As it sits right now, I would not hesitate to take another long trip. The winning bidder will get the GMC Jimmy, clear NYS Title, and all vehicle specific parts I have for it. You are not bidding on the right to ask questions after the auction or to test drive it. I am available to answer questions or for test drives up to the end of the auction. Discussions after auction close should only be to make pickup arrangements. Winning bidder will need insurance, registration, and license plate(s) before driving it home, or a trailer.
