Female owned for the last 10 – 12 years. She used it as a commuter car, mostly highway, and little or no off-road. Through the course of the week here, I have driven it 3 or 4 times. Fine. Got me around no complaints. Just an older, typical, last a long time Cherokee 4x4... and , from my point of view that added benefit of a 5 speed transmission. Not at all perfect, but a decent ride. Engine provides good acceleration and steady performance. Despite the miles, looks to have a lot more life left in it. This is the classic inline six cylinder in the High Output edition. (These six cylinders are arguably one of the absolute best domestic engines made in America over the last several decades. They consistently go well more than 300,000 miles with a little bit of care.) Engine sounds right with plenty of power. No leaks that I could see. According to the information we have received when the car was traded they are running synthetic oil in the engine and was changed sometime earlier this spring. Clutch is totally fine, no issues whatsoever. Shifts easily, grabs well, does what it is supposed to. The 4x4 has been checked and is a beast! This little Jeep, particularly with the 5 speed, is very nimble and easily controlled in off-road and climbing situations. Obviously we couldn’t check it in the snow, but in our brief woods and field foray the 4x4 component showed its stuff and worked fine. Brakes are fine. The E-brake is sort of ok, but could be tightened. It holds but I wouldn’t trust it on the hills of San Francisco. The exhaust is ok. The tires are ok, not great, the two front tires seem quite good. The one right rear tire I would change with the brand new tire that’s currently serving as the spare if I were keeping the car personally.. Interior – is pretty good. Non-smoker vehicle. The seats and the carpets are above average. Several very faint stains here or there because its a light tan interior, but again, not bad. . Overall absolutely fine. It does need a radio, as the high end CD player, was kept by the owner when she gave up the car. Good gas shocks on the rear lift gate hold up well. The paint is a very pretty olive green metallic. In decent shape but it does have some normal scratches. One elbow blow type dent (small) right fender as shown in the pictures. No rust whatsoever on the paint or sheet metal. Front bumper upon close inspection looks like it was refinished at some point and the peeling plasticized coating that was redone looks a little amateurish also as you can see in the pictures.. Several other places on the car also look like she was keeping ahead of wear and tear. I can see little paint touch ups if I look very carefully ….which I suppose is good because apparently the previous owner cared. The Air Conditioning was very cold as soon as our man recharged it. The Freon quickly leaked out through a leak on the front condenser near where the Freon hose goes in. Looks like it would be a pretty easy fix and you will have nice AC again. Keylesws remote and I can’t remember for absolute certain whether it works or not. Seems to me it does. It has a nice adjustable roof rack, tilt steering wheel. If you just decide this Jeep is for you and you’re truly interesting in taking it, just call me. In the interest of selling it more easily, we’ve reduced it for the eBay sale. [It has been for sale locally, financeable, for $2,995 and it’s still here. just after a certain period of time, it needs to go. ] Now, it will just be sold at ebay auction, No Reserve , high bid gets it. In case you’re interested, for the ebay sale, we’ve lowered that amount to the – “just sell it” amount to just $1,788 . Call if interested. An interesting note - ABOUT MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS: After many years of observation of cars and trucks, the long lived, successful, still strong, high miles vehicles are very very frequently sticks shifts! The reason is simple, though not widely understood. - Automatics transmissions , in addition to usually consuming a bit more gasoline are tougher on the engine. No doubt about it. Every time you accelerate or decelerate the engine has to push all that mass of complicated interlocking machinery - bands, clutches, valves and pumps up and down the shift cycle. Over the life of a vehicle, it takes a toll on your engine. - Stick shifts vehicles in addition to also using a little fuel, always last longer and result in longer engine life!
