my son and i purchased this caprice in july of 06.(not a kids car, my son is 36.) we have done oil changes and some minor repairs but have had nothing major to repair. it hasn't used any oil and starts and runs great. original 396 and 375 turbo trans. 12 bolt rear, no posi. factory bucket seats and hide away headlamps, power windows, comfortron a/c, console, am radio etc. the fellow we purchased it from was in dallas and told us he got it from a collector in scottsdale on a gnx trade.he signed an odometer statement that indicates the milage is original. i've never checked the history but the condition indicates it was a western states car. it was painted the correct color about 10 or 11 years ago with base clear and still looks pretty good. i haven't seen any evidence of major damage and the glass appears to all be original as well as the vinyl roof. it still has all 5 original 6 inch by 15 ralleys with the correct trim rings. i haven't seen many 69 big block cars that still retain so much of the original parts. i've seen others like this advertised to be 325 or 350 hp, 400 turbo special order cars but in reality chevy only produced the 396 in 69 big cars in the 265 hp 2bbl engine with the 375 turbo (looks like a 400). it's not a show car but it's not a 20 footer either. my son has decided he wants his 1st harley so thats the reason were selling it. if you have an interest or have questions call my cell 270 244 0532. thanks for looking. (I'VE HAD SEVERAL PEOPLE ASK IF THE #S ON THE TRANS AND ENGINE ARE THE ORIGINAL MATCHING #S. BY USING A MIRROR AND FLASHLIGHT I CAN VERIFY THAT BOTH THE TRANS AND ENGINE #S CONTAIN 199766 WHICH MATCHES THE LAST 6 OF THE VIN ON THE DASH). I CAN'T TELL BY LOOKING AT THE TRANS IF IT'S A 400 OR 375. SOME PEOPLE SAY THAT GM DIDN'T USE THE 375 UNTIL 71 OR 72. I DON'T KNOW AND I WAS A GM SERVICE MANAGER FOR 37 YEARS. MY TRANS TECH TOLD ME IT WAS A 375 WHEN WE HAD IT OUT TO REPLACE THE FRONT PUMP BUSHING AND SEAL IN 06).On Jun-13-11 at 17:04:26 PDT, seller added the following information: i looked at the glass again today and i believe the windshield has been replaced. it has a ppg and the other glass is lof.
