Vehicle Detail

Very clean and straight original with 125xxx miles. The majority of miles were put on in southern Nebraska by my late grandmother as this "Riv" was her daily driver for many years. The car was originally sold as a new car by my grandfather who was a 35+ year car salesman for the Holdrege Nebraska Buick dealer. In the fall of 1975, the original local owner traded this 43,100 mile Riviera in when my grandfather sold him a new Buick Electra. My grandfather purchased the car at that time and it has been in the family since! I came to own this beautiful Boat tail in March of 2001 when my grandparents wanted me to have the car. I always had an interest in the car and understand I used to call it the batmobile when I was a young lad. The car has always been adult driven, and the recordkeeping of my grandfather is astounding with details down to wiper blade replacements! My grandfather has owned 80+ cars in his 90 year lifetime and he sold 5,000+ at the Holdrege Buick dealership alone! This 1972 Riviera is his favorite and I think that speaks volumes and is probably the biggest endorsement I could think of. The car handles well and is a real pleasure to drive. Trust me when I say you don't have any problems pulling out to pass someone when that 455 comes to life! The A/C blows very cold. And after adjusting the power drivers seat, along with the air, tilt and cruise, you are sure to feel "cool" as that 455 with dual exhaust rumbles you down the road in style! Why am I selling the car? My wife and I started our "family life" a little later than most. At 42, I have a 3 year old and a 7 week old. My 3 year old was in the car for the 1st time June 4th when I took the Riv out of the 3rd stall of our garage to wash the dust off and take some pictures for you. My wife has not been in the car for over 5 years. We are just at a different place in our lives, and it is too nice of a car to just let it sit with very minimal use. There are no mechanical issues to my knowledge. This is a 40 year old vehicle though, and it is not perfect. It is also not a restored vehicle. Minor issues include, carpet wear and fraying drivers side, drivers seat wear from sliding into the seat, the original AM/FM radio does not work, you can hear the speakers "pop" when you turn it on though, the clock does not work, the front clip of the car has several small paint chips which is normal and to be expected. The vinyl top is showing its age, and there is a smaller than dime size area just right of the key lock on the trunk lid where some rust is beginning to emerge through the paint (not bad and not very noticeable). The wheels have some spots of rust in the chrome but are yet very presentable. The car always starts, drives straight, brakes well, accelerates....well it is a 455!, handles like a boat, super straight body, no rust other than minor spots stated above, tires are good, and get this.... to our knowledge, the spare tire, and jack have never been out of the trunk! The trunk is pretty exceptional, my grandfather always kept another piece of carpet over the original carpet, and a heavy blanket over the spare. All the documentation I have goes with the car. Bid with confidence, you will not be disappointed with this 1972 Riviera. I am sure I was overly critical describing the cars minor deficiencies. I have set a reserve which I believe is very reasonable and well below the selling price of comparable 1972 Riviera's sold here on Ebay in recent weeks! Good luck and if you have any specific questions about the car, please don't hesitate to contact me. Serious inquiries can be made to Brad at (515) 408-1700.
