Only bid on something you need. I will sell this car once. Owning a 1981 diesel Benz is not a trip to the ice cream parlor. Again, bid only on your need.PROS: Starts and runs great under 40 m.p.h. 26 m.p.g in Phoenix. Low miles and fresh. I had a new head gasket installed, oil changed, injectors calibrated, new battery, new fuel filter, and glow plugs installed. Car is from Florida and then Arizona. Low milage means the transmission is great. The Michelins are a set with 50% tread and are balanced. The emissions score Arizona was 0.33 parts per million. Very low. Acceptable limit was 2.0 p.p.m No smoking at all.All lights work, all doors lock, clock works, spare in trunk, all glass is fine, sunroof has electric open/close that works but needs a hand toward the end of closing due to motor being weaker than when it was new. Frame is dry. CONS: The vacuum system, like every Benz from '75-'85, leaks and need repairing at one point. This leak should be found and repaired. The symptom is that the gas stops getting delivered when driving over 40 m.p.h., and driver has to pull over, wait for pressure to build-up, then restart. The fix is approx. $400.00. My Benz mechanic is excellent, and totally swamped. Driver door needs door glass track replaced. That window doesn't work. Driver seat springs toward the door are very soft. Interior cosmetics are 50%. 6 rust spots around car. The A.C. freon has not been charged in years. Paint is chipping in places and faded, especially on driver's side. Ornamental wood trim glue is allowing trim to pull away from dash surface. Trunk locks when driver door is locked. Trunk lock key way is You can drive around forever as-is, as long as you keep it under 40m.p.h. You can take up to 80m.p.h, but it will eventually stall. So, get vacuum fixed, and you're good. I have the Arizona title in my name. It is registered to me in AZ. and is insured. I leave it at my condo out there. I bought it to teach my niece driving. These diesels accelerate slowly, and my 16 year old niece wants a used Jeep Wrangler instead.
