This is just a Really Nice Car. Sold to High Bidder You are bidding on a an original one owner real nice 240 Volvo. THIS IS A VERY NICE CAR, not utterly perfect mind you but definitely one of the nicer driving 240 Volvo’s I’ve seen in well while. Exceptionally smooth and sweet on the road. Very smooth. Strong. Really rolls. It was owned by a now older married couple from affluent upper crust area of Washington DC. It was bought brand new for cash by them with just 99 miles on it in the year of manufacture and kept by them all these years. The engine is Volvo’s ultra high quality and dependable 2.3 liter 4 cylinder… the engine that Volvo really established their reputation on. Super strong, super dependable, easy to work on, just a peach of an engine. This one's in great shape Came in fully tuned and running well. Engine is rock solid. No issues whatsoever. No leaks, maybe other than the normal little dampness underneath from years past. Engine is strong, and smooth. Great power plant. As you certainly must know, these model engines can easily go well more than 300K miles. Some more than 500K miles. Transmission shifts correctly. Brakes are fine . You’ll will notice the steering is dead on straight. Take your hands off the steering wheel on the interstate at 70 mph for a while and it will track straight down the highway, holding the track well. Smooth at highway speed. No shake rattle and roll like some older cars. Suspension is fine. Car sits up nicely. Not sagged out like some older 240s. In one sense this could be called “low mileage" with only 151 K miles. Low mileage on a 240 Volvo anyway! . This car cruises well at 70 mph on the open road. Absolutely straight down the road. No drift, pull, wander or vibration. Tires are a matching set of Michelins in excellent condition and probably one of the reasons it handles well. Last Wednesday I was rushing to a Boy Scout meeting out on Rt. 50 driving this Volvo. I don’t like to push things too fast but... I was late and conditions were ideal. I was delighted to see this baby cruised so nicely at 70 – 75 mph. At one point I even pushed it to 80 mph. Still fine. (It’s better at 70-75). Great at high speed, stable, solid, tracks well in a straight line in that "arrow line" Volvo way. I’ve driven it to Baltimore, Columbia and around town for a week or more. Just a real nice vehicle. Just a dependable, simple, smooth classic. -------------------------------------------------- Interior is fine. Seats are as they should be, way above average. E Brake works. I didn’t check the heated seats. Seats themselves comfortable, firm. Minor wear on one driver side seam that’s shows a modest wear repair from years ago. Seat material clean with just a minor hint of few faint stains in couple places Carpets an A-. Comes with complete set of original equipment high quality Volvo rubber mats. Headliner fine. Glove box latch stays shut. Door map pockets missing. Original equipment radio is actually pretty good. Antennae are a replacement. (Orig equipment ones avail in junk yards, $10 usually) Paint presents itself well and the impression is rich and shiny. Nice. Normal handful of scratches here and there. The body is top condition in that there’s no rust anywhere. No rust to be seen anywhere, none under the rockers, none by wheel wells. Nice. The body itself – straight, smooth and right with the exception of the right rear side that has a minor “rumpling “ of a scrape or crease at knee height. It’s just noticeable more or less depending on lighting. Minor. No rust whatsoever underneath. A get on your knees inspection underneath shows no rust underneath either. The underside is excellent. Safety, weight and strength in a crash – Hey what can one say? .Its a sturdy, heavy solidly built Volvo. Exhaust system is very solid-(another sometime 240 weakness) and should be good for quite a while. Looks relatively newish Air conditioning doesn’t blow cold, not sure why. Fan blower motor blows very smooth and quiet (also nice because lot of Volvo have a problem with this weak point). Spare in trunk. All lights correct. Glass all intact. Looks like headlights and marker lights have been upgraded or replaced with newer better versions. Only exception, an odd little plastic repair on the left side marker light lens where there must have been a crack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Interesting: Safety for you – A few years back, when Volvo advertised an "Accidental Loss of Life" insurance policy for all '96 models, they had solid empirical data upon which to make their offer. Amazingly, Volvo will tell you that no driver deaths occurred in single-vehicle crashes or rollovers of the Volvo 240 car during the 1990-94 periods. Not one. Amazing safely record. You will notice there are still a lot of them around for a reason. . If you want the car immediately, In the interest of selling it quickly I’ve reduced it for the eBay sale. [Previously , it has been for sale at the lot , financeable, for $4,295 and it’s still here. It needs to go. ] Now, we will just sell it for cash and be done with it. The value for the eBay sale has been reset to$2,788.…….to just sell it. That’s fair. Very fair, indeed for this car, condition, drivability all considered.
