Vehicle Detail

1987 Jeep Wrangler YJ *156,888 original miles *Hard and Soft top (good condition) included, original rims included, 2 spares included. *this Jeep is currently registered and insured, with a valid pennsylvania inspection. * 5 speed Manual transmission / 4 wheel-drive This 87 YJ has been in my family since my dad (2nd owner) purchased it in 1991 with 30,000 miles on it. It was our second car until I purchased it from him in 1998. I have owned it since then and only had it off the road for a year in 2006. In the last 20k miles it has had the folowing services: - new carburetor - new belts - in-line fuel filter installed - used rims from a 1992 yj (original 87 rims included in sale if interested) - new wrangler tires - new alternator - jvc cd/mp3 player/bluetooth head unit installed ( 2x12 custom fit behind-seat speaker cab and 300 watt amplifier included if interested) (original stock am/fm unit included) - new wiper blades and oil change done this past week. This Jeep has been well maintained with all oil change/service records for the past 20 years. It is currently driven 3-4 days per week. The only non-functioning component is the horn which seems to work when it wants to as of 6 months ago, otherwise this Jeep is functioning great. There are very few small spots where the paint has worn through to the primer coat (see pic). The driver side seat has begun to tear in the last year (see pic). Also, both vent windows were replaced with plexi glass after a break-in in 2003 ( the car nor any of it’s parts were stolen/damaged ). This is an excellent old YJ that I hate to part with but I need a truck for work and it simply does not make sense to keep this on the road. I do have the opportunity to keep it in storage however, and will not sell for anything other than what I see as a reasonable offer. All pictures shown here were taken on May 6th 2011. You will not be disappointed, this has been a great, reliable truck and is in as good a shape as any 87 Jeep I’ve seen. The Jeep YJ, sold as the Wrangler, replaced the much-loved but slower-selling Jeep CJ in 1987 and was built in Brampton, Ontario, Canada until the plant closed on April 23, 1992. Production was then moved to Toledo, Ohio using the same plant that produced the Willys Jeeps back in WWII. The American Motors Corporation (AMC) had designed the new jeep to be more comfortable on-road in an attempt to attract more daily drivers.[3] It was a new design with a wider track, slightly less ground clearance, and more comfort. The YJ also had a leaf spring suspension similar to that of the CJ, however, the springs were wider, and the YJs sported trackbars and swaybars for improved handling. Despite the new grill, the body is very similar to the CJ7’s, and it is interchangeable with some minor modifications. The YJ also was given a larger windshield over the CJ. The YJs are easily identifiable due to the rectangular headlights.
