Pete SOME HISTORY Design changes included dual headlamps and a lower front wing/bonnet line when the standard version of the Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud III was unveiled towards the end of 1962. For the first time those rakish drop head coupès and fixed head coupés hitherto exclusive to the Bentley Continental were also available on Silver Cloud III chassis. Drum brakes were still utilised by the factory and were looked upon at askance by some critics, who pointed out too that a car with separate chassis and coachwork attached by means of bolts and screws could be stated as having lost contact with modern development. Prospective purchasers didn't share this opinion wholeheartedly and in fact to meet demand a special series of chassis was produced well into the year 1966 - although the successor Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow had been launched in 1965. The Silver Cloud III arrived in 1963. External dimensions were slightly tweaked, the interior remodelled, the weight reduced by a little over 100 kg (220 lb) and improvements to the engine boosted speed and performance slightly. The headlights were changed to a four-headlamp layout remarkably similar to that of the later Silver Shadow, a model which the company had been brainstorming since the late-1950s. Official Rolls-Royce documents indeed state the four-headlamp layout was introduced to prepare customers for the radically new, then-forthcoming Shadow. A NOTABLE VERSION OF THE SILVER CLOUD III IS THE "CHINESE EYE", featured on the Mulliner Park Ward coachbuilt cars, of which only about 100 were made, including one drop-head coupé that was owned by r Sellers for four years, and another by Lucille Ball, among others. !Out of the 100 Chinese Eyes ever produced only 20 of this beautys were made with SUNROOF, This is one of them!.
