Vehicle Detail

1990 Ford Aerostar Conversion Van Private seller, and, it has ONLY 29,100 MILES, Very rare! Please wait for the many images to load (1.35MB)... If you want to come by to look + listen to it run, call 630.766.8322 Ask for Marty, hours 8-3:30 pm Email / Call back if no answer, please! Probably the lowest mileage Aero in the US. I have owned 3 of these vans, bought 1 new in '88 This one was used a detective's surveillance vehicle in Columbus, Ohio It had a FLIR ( night vision) system on top, down further you will see The 'cap' they used to seal the opening when they sold it, which was to the city of Arlington...they used it app. a year, and I bought it from them. It has hardly been driven in all thes years, and mostly it has been garaged! These vans can go 150-200 thousand miles with a some care, I have done it twice! Crisscrossed the USA with wife, 3 kids, and dog over and over.... I crossed the Rocky mountains 6 times, Nova Scotia, Utah deserts, etc. When I bought it, I had 'older' kids then, app. 3 years ago. Sadly, they did not want to do the whole family thing in a van by then, So, I have had it in storage for 2 years. Done PROPERLY, the engine was 'fogged' the van has been resting on 'scrap' wheels, saving the Expensive, Forged Alcoas and the almost ZERO mileage Michelin Harmony tires. Rodent proofed, steel wool inside the exhaust, etc. It STARTED RIGHT UP. I drove it about 4 months ago just to make sure things were OK. Parts, if need be, are readily available, no problems. As you may have guessed, I am losing my storage, so I must sell The rear seats fold into a bed, we went ski-bumming in this van It was a riot! They come out, also... you can carry a whole 4x8 sheet of plywood with the seats in. 2 sunroofs! There are tiny flaws around the exterior, but larger dents on the roof, where you can't see them. I was goind to add a third one to get rid of the RV vent the police dept. put on, but never did. The job was not up to my standards, they used a lot of silicone to seal it, looks poor. I installed a Blaupunkt USB /amfm/ cd audio system with a potent Amp under the pass. seat, I think it has 800 watts. Speakers under the dashboard, and there are 2 "box" speakers in back, my son MIGHT want these back, sorry. What I do have is OEM Ford brackets, 6x9, for installing into the 'wall' of the van, between the 2nd&3rd. row of seats. ALSO, you can mount speakers in the back doors, I should have the special wiring mounts for this, if I can find them. I use a flash drive to store/play my MP3's, the amp is Blaupunkt, BTW. Here is the plastic sheet Ford put on in St.Louis in 1990, it is still there on the doorsill!!! This thing is like a time-warp. It has a rear seat heater, shown here.... It has V6 engine, 4 speed auto trans. reg. gas OK. Electric fan. Battery cutoff New battery. New rear brakes. A class 2 hitch, These vans are built on a truck frame, BTW. It is rear-wheel drive, not front. Here is the vin, and note it says incomplete vehicle. That is because Ford sold this to the Conversion van company without an interior. Underneath it looks almost new, i had it undercoated and rustproofed within a week of buying it. If you are a collector of Ford cars/trucks, you are going to love this thing. If you have people to carry, they will be amazed at it's uniqueness! There is nor plastic inside, it is all fabric/wood. And, yea, that is a burn on the seat, cig. But it's mostly all great shape, I did not wax the van, nor cleaned the interior for these fotos... Unlike all the Aeros, this one has almost zero rust!!! Console between front seats...big one Now for some bad: -The paint is below par, the metalflake 'color' is good, but the 'clearcoat' is wearing thin IN SPOTS, not the whole van. One A-pillar is bad, and the locks have a streak beneath them. - The front rotors have to be turned, the pads are fine. There is a small vibe in the steering wheel... - there is a tiny surface rust spot, see foto - there is a RV thingy, white. it used to be attached to a fan to exhaust the interior when the detectives were sitting for hours watching badguys. It needs to be painted or something. The interior portion near it's other end looks poor, the fabric has a stain. - there is an electrical gremlin...note how many interior lights the van has? They don't all work. I have this Ford part that might fix it, it is a timer thing that turns lights off after a few seconds, I think ithe original has a bad wire? - there are some tiny dents I tried to show in foto below, but it doesn't show too well It looks worse in person. - As mentioned, the top looks poor, cannot see without stepstool though... - The windshield has a trim piece, poor. I have a new one, never installed it. - the drivers side 'rear' window has iffy interior plastic frame. - There is some sagging of the interior fabric, not bad, but not great. I don't have time/space to fix these isssues, sorry. The van should sell at a somewhat low price, you can finish up and save$. I have the Ford factory manual, and a haynes book, not pictured. Lots of parts for Aero's, Did I say I have owned one since 1988, lol? I welcome your questions, so write/call, please. A true NO RESERVE auction! This thing is so comfy to drive, I wish I was going somewhere in it! The view is incredible out it's huge window. And, I WILL PICK YOU UP AT THE AIRPORT if you fly in. Use Southwest, to Midway airport, Chicago for less cost. Drive this van anywhere. Get a carfax, it has 29k miles, NOT 129k! I have driven it app. 5k in 3 years! WRITE ME if this is a concern. ADDITIONAL NOTES 2 DAYS AFTER AUCTION STARTED: --- When I got it 3 1/2 years ago, I bled ALL the brake fluid out and replaced it with premium stuff from Napa --- App. 3 years ago, flushed the coolant out and replaced it with Zerex G05. New hoses and Stant 195 superstat, too. --- The rear brakes are new as of 4 months ago, bought the best that 'rockauto' had. --- Looking at all these pictures now, I did the original ad late at night, makes me state: It doesn't look as good in person as it does in the ad, some shots show it gleaming! The paint is getting tired...Maybe buff it out? Never did that. --- My son drove it back from storage, and he says the power steering pump is "moaning" lightly. Ford pumps are kind of lame, so I am picking up it's replacement tomorrow and will install and bleed all the old fluid out. --- When I got it, it always 'cranked' a second longer than our other cars before starting. It never got worse, but i put a new fuel pressure regulator on to get it to light up right away like our other cars (newer). Had no effect. It is still this way, no change, It cranks like 4-5 revolutions and starts, always. --- I can't find the Amp's manual --- The drivers' door inside handle is a little irritating, when they made the door panel, they stitched it too close, and there is not enough clearance, so you have to squeeze the handle a bit to get out. Never had the heart to cut a little slit, but that would fix it. Send me your message without using Ebay's functions, E-MAIL me with questions... By running the car with the return line disconnected and placed into a jug, I flushed the whole system out, used a gallon of PS fluid. --- while underneath, I could see the drivers side valve cover is weeping oil. Gasket, it's probably cork, is dried out I guess. --- the Van smells like "irish spring soap" ! I used like 20 bars of this as part of a rodent defense... --- I disabled the 'door ajar' feature of the sliding door 3 years ago, it was 'clicking'. Easily undoable. These "additions' to the ad might seem strange, but I had to go and get the van on a minutes notice when my friend sold his house, where the van had been in his garage. Plus, my Son drove it back, I had not driven it more than 50 miles in 2 years..sorry.... Send me your message without using Ebay's functions, E-MAIL me with questions...
