For Sale my 1998 VW Jetta TDI (diesel)....The car has green exterior with tan/beige interior. 5 speed manual transmission. car gets between 45-52 miles per gallon depending on speed driven and on highway or city roads....I use this car to commute 130+ miles round trip to work each day mostly highway miles at a little bit above highway speeds (75-80) and I still average 45-47 miles to a gallon.... Ok issues with the car first it has 287K miles, which to some might be an issue but keeping in mind it is a diesel, so the engine is not an issue. Other parts like brakes, suspension, filters, and required maintenance has always been completed on a schedule and all is well. I have kept accurate records of all services performed. The timing belt for example has been replaced 4 times, as recently as last year.....Oil filters/fuel filters always changed on a regular basis....The car drives great, the engine is solid, the A/C blows cold, shifts great never had any work done on clutch except for tranny oil changed.....The inside is in great shape. The cloth interior has no rips/tears...no real stains on seats or carpets.....The sunroof did leak due to seals that were getting old, what I did for that was added clear silicone to the outside which stopped the leak but now I cant open the sunroof. I do have a second sunroof that i purchased used but never installed that will be sold with the car also.....The pictures show the car with the original rims with snow tires mounted. I do have 4 chrome plated rimes which there is a picture of one of them that will also be sold with the car. I used snow tires in winter and all season tires for the rest of the year...Car drives awesome in snow with the snow tires. I also have a set of tire chains that go with the car.....I will be getting a new windshield today in fact as it was cracked right in the drivers view 2 days ago..that will be completed today at 2 PM...... The one issue that the car is starting to have is some rust spots are starting to form in the typical areas for this model car. What I mean is the front corners are starting to show some rust and there is a spot on the drivers side door and on the rocker panels...Because I am not a mechanic or autobody person I really could not tell you how to fix this other then to replace the parts....I have looked into replacing the front corners as the pieces (i call them front quarters but I am told they are front corners) are sold at shops and here locally at a place called empire auto parts located in Taunton MA for $60 piece...Seeing as though I live in a condo I do not have a garage and I am unable to replace but I cant see it being a big deal and to be honest its not really that bad of rust its just purely cosmetic..... I would have no problem driving this car anywhere, it is reliable and will serve as a great commuter vehicle, and that is exactly what I use it for to commute to and from work 5 sometimes 6 days a week, and as long as you take car of it, it should last you many many more miles.....If your a local buyer in the Rhode Island, Southeastern MA area I will also give you a once a day drive through car wash for 60 days at a wash off route 195 in Fall River MA. The reason I am selling is I have another Jetta that I used as a weekend type car but now with the cost of fuel, maintenance and insurance I need to cut down to one vehicle and I am only afforded one parking space at my condo and using a visitor space for my other car is not going over well with my neighbors.....I have a bunch of other pictures so feel free to ask any questions or if you need more info pics and I will respond as soon as I can....I am able to show the car pretty much anytime even if at work but I would need a day or two in advance since I do work several different areas in Massachusetts....The price I am asking is a fair price and it is a non haggle price. I am not a car salesman and if your going to message me asking for my reserve price dont as that defeats the purpose of ebay!!! Not looking to make money on this deal, actually trying to save money thats why I am selling it!!! One last thing, I noticed that the autocheck says there is a loan or lien against the car but there is not....I email the service and asked them why they are reporting that but they never got back to me.
