Vehicle Detail

Rust Free California Original 1989 Taurus SHO I bought this car in 2009 to restore. Given the economic times (and the need to pay the mortgage), I’m selling it to you. The main reason I wanted it was the low miles. At the time, it had about 75,000 original miles (verified through CarFax). Now, 2 years later, it only has 80,000 – that’s only 3,600 per year! The car lived mainly in Ojai, CA. I bought it from a dealer in La Crescenta, CA. The original engine (made by Yamaha) and transmission (made by Mazda) run fantastic – no leaks. All 220 horses are present and it still feels like it does 0-60 in the 6.6 seconds Car & Driver tested in December, 1989. MECHANICAL: 75,000: Replaced timing belt (this was highly recommended by all the SHO websites I went to) 76,000: New Alpine stereo w/CD, USB port, AM/FM (Professionally installed to the tune of $370 – I have the receipt) 79,000: All new tires 80,000: Replaced cracked center grille with donor grille from 1989 Taurus (that’s why you see a blue center grille in the pics) 03/2010: New battery Power windows, locks, seats, sunroof, antenna all work. Spare tire, jack, lug wrench and wheel key present. Starts immediately. Rides great. Brakes good. A/C and cruise control do not work. Weatherstripping on sunroof was never there, HOWEVER, in these cars the weather stripping is for noise reduction only. According to several SHO club websites, there are actually 4 drain holes in the sunroof opening trough that take care of the water runoff. INTERIOR: (see pics): Normal wear & tear on upholstery for a 22 year-old car. Driver’s seat torn on outside lumbar. Carpet needs cleaning, but is not ripped. Leather on gear shift worn out. Cloth on seats could use a cleaning. EXTERIOR: (see pics) Normal scrapes for 22 years. Paint transfer on passenger mirror. Surfaces scratches here and there. Some cracks in rear bumper cover. Never wrecked. NADA quotes this car at $1,897 to $4,743. Happy bidding!
