1979 Volkswagen Super Beetle convertible I purchased this car from a seller in southern California, and it is a relatively rust free convertible. I had initially planned on getting it in top mechanical shape for a college student to use to get back and forth from a university in Michigan, but she opted to go a different route. Accordingly, I now have this car available to the highest bidder. Recent upgrades include: Decent shape convertible top Good tires, upgraded with wide track sized radials Approx. 10,000 miles on rebuilt engine Good stereo system with large speakers underneath front seats New white convertible top boot This 1979 model was the last year of the 'classic' Beetle body style sold in the U.S., although production of this model continued in Mexico and Brazil for years afterward. The Volkswagen Beetle, in all its forms is the largest production model car ever made, and surpassed the former leader, Henry Ford's Model T at some point in the 1970's to claim this title. While this car runs great, gets very good mileage and is a solid car, there are a few minor flaws that should be mentioned, such as the instrument cluster needs work. I replaced the speedometer cable and gas gauge sending unit, but both instruments are still inoperable. Accordingly, the mileage on the odometer is not correct. Also, there are some minor chips in the paint, and some spot painted areas here and there, but not enough to detract from a generally excellent appearance.
