1980 Mercedes Benz 240D New tires with less than 1000 miles and a brand new haust. It is a nice car that could use some work. The car has a 1982 4-cyl motor and tranny. The engine swap was done before I bought it. I was told it had low mileage and the motor ran good. I have owned this car about 5 years. It was a daily driver for a while and it also spent some time in storage. Flywheel should be replaced as it makes it harder to start. The rest that is required, is more wear and tear The motor runs great! Body is in decent shape. It could use a re-paint just for refresh, but cosmetically it is nice. The interior is real nice with just a small tear in the drivers seat from wear. They had replaced a few trims and interior panels I guess. Everything looks right to me, but the guy swapped out stuff with the 82 car he also had. Not sure if you noticed the past tense above saying it ran good. The car currently is not running and I think its just a fuel thing. I replaced the fuel filters and noticed they were gummed up. I replaced those and it started to turn over and then konked out again. I could tell the filters made a difference. I also put in a brand new battery too. I ran the car over the winter. I had it in covered storage as you see in the picture below. The car sat for maybe a month and then had this issue afterward. I also noticed recently that the odometer stopped working and the fuel gauge is not always working. I started to tinker, but I really dont have the time for it, which is why I want to sell it. A few interior bulbs are out too. I bought them, but didnt have the time to replace them either. If you know these guys and/or handy, you can get this running and do your thing. I have a nice set of fenders for the car and a set of 5 rims (4 with center caps) that I will include if the car happens to go over $1000. If the car does not, you can purchase them separately. They are not for sale during the auction as that is not fair to the bidders. Again ... nice car that needs some love and has potential. The only rust is around the jack holes. The fenders had a little surface that was brushed away and resprayed. Remember this is a 31 year old .. it aint perfect, the paint is not show quality, it could use a re-paint, but can definitely do the job and looks a lot better than other ones I have seen putting down the road. The car needs to be towed when you come to pick it up. Please do not come with your tool box or attempt to diagnose it and shrug your shoulders at me if you can't get it going then. Please come with a tow dolly or whatever you need to remove the car. I am not looking to be difficult but the location of the car is not at a place where you can really work on it. Thanks for looking!
