1968 AMC AMX 390 Automatic with Go-Pak, Air Conditioning, Disc Brakes, Power Steering, Interior Light Package, Matador Red, Black Interior with Sport Bucket Seats, Twin Grip, Torque Links, Tilt Steering Wheel Column, Original Go-Pak Exhaust Tips and Clamps, Original Rims and Lug Nuts, Passenger Side Mirror, Original Ribbed Head Liner, Rear Bumperettes and Factory Radio Delete. This is an original number's matching 390 X code AMX. This is a rare car to begin with, and not to mention the highly desired options in a condition that you normally do not find with a 40 plus year old muscle car. This car is extremely original and stock from the original carb, air cleaner, Go-Pak optioned Valve Covers, stock engine with orignal cam and cast iron intake and exhaust manifolds, space saver spare, and many more original parts. This is an extremely stock, unmolested AMX, and it is rare to see them like this. Just take a look at the other AMX's being auctioned here on Ebay and you'll see the majority of them are missing Original Equipment parts like the space saver, air filter housing, and other highly desirable parts that have become difficult to find, and expensive. This car was restored in the 90's with nothing but NOS parts and made the rounds at the local car shows here in Northern California. Many of the parts are still in excellent condition, but the paint is showing it's age and the car will need to be repainted. This is a wonderful restoration project for those looking for a trailer-queen, and also a great car looking for a Sunday driver. This car needs little else since the interior is Mint with no tears or cracks in the dash pads, seats, or door panels, and the engine and drive train run extremely well with no major work needed. This car basically needs paint and chrome plating depending on how nice you want to make it. The car starts right up without any funky blue exhaust smoke, strange noises, or drive-ability issues. The Tires are Old School Red Lines, and may have flat spots, and should be replaced with modern tires. The AC blows on the cold side, but could use a recharge of freon. The body is in excellent condition and does not have any rust issues at all. I know that may be hard to believe for you guys who live in the rust-belt, but this AMX is California Clean with solid troughs, quarters, cowl, rear window valence, floor boards, and trunk pan. Why would you waste time and money trying to cobble together some rust bucket when you can have original sheet-metal with original parts?
