!965 Ford Mustang K Code Fastback. K code was Ford's designation for the high performance Musdtang sold from 1964 1/2 thru 1967. About 1,000 fastback K Codes were produced in 1965. So rare that a registry has been established for all K code models. There are currently 407 1965 fastbacks registered, including 16 in Washington State. These are extremely rare cars with high performance engines and suspension upgrades. Shelby used these models as a base for his production models. This car was completely rebuilt from 2005 thru 2007. Original speedo read 11787, but the speedo was replaced with a GT model now reading 80693. It has about 1,500 miles since completion in 2007. Original doors, hood, fenders, and trunk lid were media blasted. Quarter panels were replaced as somone had installed flares (ugh). Rest of body was stripped. Also replaced floor pans. Car has been painted professionaly in "quartz silver", it has a slight red sheen if you look critically. The red GT stripe was painted on and clear covered. IMMACULATE! Red pony interior was installed with GT wood steering wheel, door courtesy lights, and GT exterior ornaments. Scott Drake rally pac operates beautifully. USA AM/FM cassette player provides music. Entire under carriage has been detailed and painted. New gas and brake lines used. Completely rebuilt era correct 1965 289, with K code heads & K code unique engine mounts. Competition Cams solid lifter cam and dual roller timing chain. Tri Y headers flow thru flowmaster exhaust and out GT exhaust tips. K code hangers are used. Ford aluminum intake and 650 Holley Double Pumper (with manual choke per original K code). K code valve covers and air cleaner. Mallorey electronic ignition. Larger bell housing for 11 inch clutch connects to 1987 rebuilt T5 Five speed transmission. Shifts into Fifth gear at 50 mph - great for highway cruising. Shifter made to look like original 4 speed shifter. This is a bolt in transmission if anyone really wants the 4 speed. Factory 9 inch rearend rebuilt. Factory Disc Brakes rebuilt. New gas tank, shocks, etc. New wiring harness from front to back. Has the K code suspension mods of sway bar, lower springs, and quick steering box. 14 inch rallye wheels with BF Goodrich radial dual red line tires. Door tag: (decipher) Body 63A (fastback standard interior) Color (left blank special order paint color--don't know original color) Trim 25 (red vinyl) Date 10Q (built March 10, 1965) DSO 237099 (Philadelphia -- 7099 denotes special order) Axle 5 (3.50:1 --- now has 3.25:1 but will include original gears changed for 5 speed use) Trans 5 (4 speed manual-- now has 5 speed) Beautiful K Code fastback shows and drives well.
