Vehicle Detail
This car was purchased new in January of 1966 from Crest motors in Escondido, California. It has been in the same family the entire time and was passed from grandmother to daughter-in -law and is now available for the new owner. From 2006 to present, over ten thousand dollars in receipts have been kept on this vehicle. It has spent most of its time garaged and has never been in any accidents. The 1966 version of shoulder and lap belts are in the front and back seats. It has a factory sun roof and air conditioning, although the compressor for the air was removed for mileage sake. The back cargo mat is gone and the interior is tired and should be eventually replaced, but, otherwise is in fairly decent shape. There is a small ding on the back hatch door and on the left rear fender well. Right rear window has some damage from a thrown glass object, along with the frame and paint. Fairly minor and not very noticeable. The entire brake system is new, as well as lots of electrical and mechanical components. It has an original set of bias ply tires in like new condition that have been well taken care of over the years, and driven gently. At the bottom of each front fender is the typical spot of rust, and is the only rust on the car that I can find. This car is a little creampuff, and an original unmolested grandma Volkswagen. If you have a VW collection with no Type III, now is the time. These cars are no longer common and are much harder to come by. This car came with the 1600 Dual Carb engine and is nothing less than a joy to drive. This car also has front wheel disc brakes. There is an oil leak on the right side of the engine. The present owner is eighty years old and says the car must go. Thanks for looking!
