1951 CHEVROLET 3100 truck set on 1970 OLDSMOBILE Cutlass(narrowed) chassis.1400 miles on 1972 OLDS 455 V8 professionally rebuilt with mild port and 268 COMP CAM & lifters(noticable idle/lope) with new stage 2 SMI 800 cfm Quadrajet,stock intake and exhaust manifolds with true duals and glass packs dumped past rear end.TH 400 3spd auto rebuilt with deep alum B&M pan and Lokar kick down cable with frame trans cooler.Olds rear end with 3.55 gears with new upper and lower control arms and bushings/air lift bags.NEW alt,dist with Pertronix ign and flamethrower coil,ps pump,starter,Stewart custom built alum water pump,hot rod alum radiator,hot rod heater,gas tank/sending unit(behind the seat orig repro tank),Interstate battery,SPAL 16'' puller fan,windshieldwiper motor/wipers,Dolphin gauges,srereo,tach,turn signals and switch,tail lights,turn signal lights,wheel bearings,brakes,ball joints, front upper/lower control arm bushings,custom built and balanced driveshaft with USA heavyduty u-joints,shocks,windshield glass and rubber,door glass/rubber/felt,wing windows,mirrors,inside and out door handles/cranks,headliner,visors,door panels,firewall pad,floor insulation/carpet,front tires 165/80R15,full moon chrome hubcaps,chrome front/rear bumpers.Alot of custom work done on this little 51.Does not have air bags,I set it at the ride height I liked.All orig metal on body.It was originally a highway dept truck out of Kansas.Alot of attention went into keeping the body orig and a tight fit on fenders ,hood,bed etc.All rust areas were replaced with new steel(cab corners,cowls and floor board,running boards were fiberglassed).Everything else is orig metal/body.Very straight body for her age.All hood emblems,headlight bezels/rings and back glass,steering column(converted/connected to GM steering shaft with CPP steering u-joint and lower and upper steering column bearings),steering wheel are orig.Orig shifter from the standard trans was used to and modified to shift the TH 400 trans.Has orig dome light and glass.Radio was mounted in the glove box to keep from cutting dash.This truck came with radio delete so no outside antenna,has inside antenna.Custom pass side mirror was installed to keep from drilling cowl for mirror(truck came with driver side mirror only).Frame was narrowed/braced to accept 51 body.Bed floor was raised with angle grid to clear rear GM suspension and frame and decked with 1/4 plate steel for bed floor and weight to balance her.Wheels are 15'' 5x15 front and 7x15 rear GM stock wheels.Exhaust was wrapped in heavyduty fiberglass exhaust wrap to keep heat off underside of cab.Underside of cab was also shielded with heat barrier.Seat is out of 79 chevy van with saddleman seat cover and was modified to flip forward to get access to area underseat for storage/whatever.About a 3 yr build to complete her.No skulls,spider webs or road signs bolted on her.She has custom painted/weathered vintage 1950's garage signs on doors and thats it.Took best of show in rat rod class at Greenville tx car show this month.She gets alot of looks and questions everywhere I take her.She's pretty stout with the big 455 and really cruises on the highway.low and fast,drive her anywhere.Tough little 51.Ready for another project/build so she is offered for a short time.For more pics go to Photobucket.com ,type in 51c under seach and click on 51c's profile.On May-01-11 at 14:14:52 PDT, seller added the following information: http://s1132.photobucket.com/albums/m579/51c/On May-03-11 at 13:01:19 PDT, seller added the following information: This truck has power drum brakes( last year before OLDS went to disc,they feel like disc) and no AC(may add later if I keep her).Carb needed no adjusting,worked for me right out of the box.You can adjust to your liking.For more info do a search om SMI carbs/stage 2 for OLDS 455.Just a few questions I'm getting that I guess I should have described in my add.
