Vehicle Detail

1974 Mercury Grand Marquis Colony Park Wagon, Marti Report, 1 of 1, 1 OWNER Fully documented 1 of 1 Mercury station wagon with Marti Report and binder with records and papers. Marti is known for his reports on Specialty Mustangs but also completes the reports on other Fords, Lincolns and Mercurys. This is a 1-owner car (still open title from original owner). I pursued a Marti Report because she swore it was a one of a kind. The Marti Report confirms this. The Marti Report indicates that this is 1 of only 16 Special Order Mercury Wagons that year. She even requested that the hubcaps be painted to match by the dealer!! Of those 16 cars, 4 had Tan interior and the Grand Marquis Trim Option. 1 car had Cargo Load Floor Carpet, hence it is a 1 of 1. The door tag shows a blank where the color code should be, indicating that it was a special order car (see photo). VIN# 4Z764573458. Car is an all original well-maintained survivor. They are only original once!! I have had the car for a little over a year, and have just tinkered on the car and taken her to local car shows. I do not have to part with her, but I have a lot going on and have not been able to enjoy her as much as someone else probably could. Documentation of History: Copy of original Ohio Title, odometer statement from when sold new, warranty tag, consumer information sheet, warranty booklet, AZ title from 1978, many years of registration and smog tests (passed all), Owner’s manual, Radio manual, and multiple tire purchase receipts. Documents will be provided to buyer, organized in a binder. Marti Report is included in the binder. The Original owner’s story: I’ll have to leave the details for the eventual buyer, but a quick summary can’t hurt. She special ordered the car in Ohio and drove it to AZ in 1978 where she resides to this day. She is 92-93. I have a copy of her Driver’s License application for AZ and the AZ title from 1978. I also have pictures of myself with her, her with her orange Ford Escape, and notes from our interaction. She was a non-Smoker and was meticulous with this car. Options: 460-4 Barrel V8, C6 Auto, Trak Lok differential, speed control, working AM/FM radio with 8 Track, intermittent wipers, rear window defrost, A/C, Power windows including rear tailgate, power locks, power mirrors, power seats, roof rack, good Vogue tires, etc. Condition: Excellent condition inside and out. Interior is all original and nearly perfect. There are no stains on the carpet. The leather looks untouched in all seats except the driver’s seat which has minimal wear (hairline cracks). The vinyl headliner is in excellent condition with only minor imperfections. There are 2 cracks on the dash pad. A/C was blowing cold until last week. I will fix it at the right price above the reserve. She said the exterior hadn’t been re-painted, but I cannot confirm this. The finish is excellent with no scratches and only a few minor chips. She had a fender-bender way back when and that is why the front right corner fender cap does not have the woodgrain. I assume that front fender cap had some body work and repaint. The paint in the door jams appears to be original. She used Mobil 1 and changed the oil, oil filter and air filter 3 times per year. New fuel pump just installed. 146K actual miles with maintenance receipts to confirm this. The title from 1974 does not have a place to enter the miles. Issues: The headlight doors open and close as they should (just replaced the vacuum check valve), but they only stay closed for a few hours once the car is shut-off. Power windows in back seat are slow, but both front windows as well as the rear window function properly. The exterior woodgrain vinyl was poorly faded and cracked when I bought it. I used a gel stain to darken it so it looks better, but it is not perfect. $350 per 30’ roll through Beaver Stripes in AZ. You will need 2. NADA Values: Low: $4,452 Average: $8,547 High: $14,820 Because of this being a 1 of 1 car, this car has huge potential. My reserve is very near the low #, so bid to win this great 1 of-a-kind classic. E-mail or call Michael at 602-663-3339 to ask questions or to set-up a viewing appointment if you are local.
