Vehicle Detail
In the summer of 2009, my best friend and I took one of those "once in a lifetime" rides. Eight days in the saddle through Virginia, North Carolina and Tennessee. I called him up one evening that fall and said we should ride to Sturgis in 2010; he said, "well maybe". Turns out that the '09 ride would be the last big one. He fought cancer much of his adult life. He was so tough we called him "Weed". In the summer of 2010 he was still doing some local riding when a lady T-boned his 2007 VTX 1300 R in an intersection. So with his bunged up leg and in between chemotherapy and surgery he did what any self-respecting biker would do; he bought another motorcycle! He liked his old VTX 1300 so he found this nice low mileage example and struck the deal. He probably got to put about 1,000 miles or so on it before he passed away over Christmas 2010. Now why did I go through all this trouble to tell you this story? Well, it's for two reasons: first I think you would want to know something about the fellow who owned your new bike before you did. You would want to know he was a good man, a tough man, and a true biker in every sense of the word. Secondly, it's so you don't try to dicker me to death on the price. The money from this sale isn't going toward a new bike, or a new car, or some dullard kids' college education; it's going to help his widow pay some bills. I am listing this bike for her because she is too kind and gentle and would take a bath on the price. If you are looking at this listing and are interested in a VTX, you already know what this bike is worth and what they are selling for. The reserve on this bike is less than the Kelly Blue Book estimate and the NADA estimate for a bike in this condition. So man-up and bid this thing up. You will get a great deal on a great bike, my buddy's widow will get to pay some bills, and you will get bragging rights to a bike that was previously owned by a real biker; not a banker. So now I will do my best to tell you some things about the bike. Since the bike isn't mine, I might miss some stuff. Contact me through eBAy if you have questions and I will try to answer them to the best of my ability. Here's the info on the bike: Low mileage - 8,505Linby highway barsThrow over saddlebagsQuick release Switchblade WindshieldClock and thermometer mounted on handlebarsThose little clear plastic fairings that help keep you hands warm in winter...I don't know what they're called but you know what I mean.Audio Stereo System with FM Auto Scan Radio...here's all the stuff the user's manual says it has: 50Wx2+130Wx1 Detachable Amplifier with a Pair of 3" weatherproof speakers Ready for subwoofer channel amplifying FM Radio/Aux/Clock Modes Built-in FM Radio with Electronic Tuning, the amp is in the handlebar bag, very nice and neat installation Up/Down Auto Scan Tuning System And a whole lot of other stuff that I have no idea what it means because I don't have an audio system on my bikes... I know that you can hook up your Mp3 or Ipod to this thing. I have also been behind him when he had this thing on and at 70 mph I could hear the damned thing. So I know it works. You will also get a helmet, same color as the bike and in great condition, and a nearly new cover for the bike. He always kept this bike under cover and in his shed, so there is no rust or anything like that. The paint is a dark maroon-red and is in very, very good condition. The chrome is all "chromey" and shiney. The wheels look great and the tires look almost new to me. I started it up and rode it around a little the day I shot these pics. I have also ridden it before then and I can tell you it rides great. Lots of power and will easily kick any of my Harley's butts. It handles nice but this thing is a brute. I wouldn't hesitate to get on it and ride it straight through to California...then a quick trip down to Baha...then maybe up to Vegas...then back to Virginia. Anyway, the pics tell the story on this bike. The only flaw I found is a shallow dent on the back of the front fender. Not sure what caused it, but the paint isn't chipped or broken, and it isn't noticeable unless you are looking for it. So with all this in mind, you cannot let this bike just sit and rust away. It begs to be ridden and ridden hard. So take a look at the pictures and start bidding. Good luck! The old guy in the pic is me...just so you know a real biker is talking to you. Okay here's some other stuff: $500.00 deposit by paypal with 24 hours...no exceptions. The balance due within 5 business days. The balance can be in cash of course. NO personal checks but Cashier's or Certified Checks are acceptable. Funds must clear my account prior to my releasing the title. I am not a shipping company so I will not check shipping rates for you. I will not crate it for you. I will not keep it over 30 days for you. Essentially I will do nothing for you whatsoever because I am, as previously mentioned in my other listings, a grumpy, mean old biker that does not have enough time left on earth to fiddle around with other people's responsibilities. I will however meet your shipper and give him the keys, title and other stuff...I am not heartless you know. I will sell it to anyone in the known world...however, all the other stuff I said already applies. Go check my feedback. I am honest and forthright. I have sold several other bikes on eBay and all the buyers have been happier than a puppy with two peckers. Please check out my other listings later on this week. I currently have a 2005 Harley FLSTN for sale and will soon be listing some cool parts and pieces for Harley's and other bikes.
