Vehicle Detail

1978 cb400a in excellent all original condition including paint, seat, and chrome. A true survivor. Runs great. All electrics work, lights,, signals, horn etc. Paint near perfect (small dent on gas cap cover ( easy fix but it never bothered me) see picture. Original seat in perfect condition. All chrome very good. Slight discoloration top of right pipe. Tank clean inside. Carbs professionaly cleaned at Honda dealer when I bought the bike in 2008. Battery new 2008. Tires great, more than 50% tread I bought this bike for my wife so she could learn to ride, which she did, but I actually put most of the miles on it. This automatic transmission is a gas to ride! I thought it would just be a safe way for a beginner to get into traffic, which it certainly is, but after a long day in the city you will wonder why all bikes aren't built this way. Low saddle, light weight, super maneuverable. Are you worried about taking your road exam on that new 800 lb hog you just impulse bought? Buy this whole bike for less than the cost of a new romper suit and you will be sitting pretty. This bike is in great shape with no issues but as with any 30 year old machine there is no warranty. Item will have to be picked up. I cannot assist with shipping (there are plenty of door to door shippers) . On Apr-30-11 at 04:25:11 PDT, seller added the following information:This is in response to the question from Julie 4/29/11 - Julie, thank you for your interest in my motorcycle and I know it is none of my business but I thought about your last message and feel compelled to make a few points. I am a lifelong motorcycyle rider and racer. My wife has been around and on the back of motorcycles for 20 years. When she deciced she would like to ride up front I bought this motorcycle and set up a practice grid in our driveway. She rode under close supervision in a closed course and when she was ready to venture onto the open road and into traffic she did so in the middle of a protective cocoon of experienced riders who protected her from danger while she built skill and confidence. My point is that the best way to learn to ride is as a kid with a dirtbike in an open field. If you plan to take up this sport as an adult be sure you have the network of experienced rider friends to keep you safe. You cannot learn to ride in an afternoon course at a dealership. You cannot teach yourself to ride. A bike like the one I am about to sell can get an inexperienced rider into trouble in the blink of an eye. The ease of operation could cause false self confidence. Motorcycle riding is dangeous sport and you have two eleven year olds to think about. Instead of this motorcycle, $1800 could buy you an alloy mountain bike which would also give you speed thrills fresh air and exercise but if you fall off you won't get run over by the car behind you. Please think about it.
