Vehicle Detail
Here is an absolutely spectacular original un-restored 1964 Chevrolet Impala 2-door Sport Coupe with only 66,000 original miles from new! This type of car is popularly known in the old car hobby as a "Survivor", meaning that it is a stock un-restored car that has not been modified or hot-rodded. This car has never been wrecked or rusted, is unbelievably straight, and has all its original body panels and floor pans with no patch panels. The interior and under the hood are also stock and original. The car was re-finished once about 15 to 16 years ago in the original dark green metallic color. It was a quality job that still retains a beautiful finish and shine. I have been fortunate enough to own this special car twice! I first purchased it from the original owner and his brother about 19 years ago. At that time, it had about 47,000 original miles. It had the original paint at that time, which still looked presentable, but was getting thin in spots, had some crazing in spots, and a few minor door dings that every used car seems to accumulate. I kept the car a couple years, and sold it to a family who was looking to get into the old car hobby as a father and son bonding thing. They had the trim removed, paint stripped, and had the refinish done. About a year and a half ago, the man's wife died unexpectedly, the son had grown, started a career, so the decison was made to sell the Impala. I bought it back. So I guess I am both the 2nd and 4th owner of this car! I can say that I have made the acquaintance of everyone who has ever owned this Impala! It now has 66,000 actual miles! It is so nice, that it would easily pass for 35,000 miles! This Impala is equipped with the famous and "bullet proof" 283 small-block V8 engine with 2bbl carb, and the equally indestructible aluminum Powerglide automatic transmission. This combination runs very well on 87 octane pump gas, and delivered me just about 20MPG on a recent trip! Other than that, the car has very few options; just seat belts, padded dash, and AM radio. I like them simple like this; less to break and cost money! I just drove the Impala on a 620 mile trip about 6 weeks ago! I got about 20 MPG, and did not leak or burn oil. Car ran nice, smooth, and cool at all speeds, and did not do anything it wasn't supposed to do. I would not hesitate to drive this Impala anywhere. It starts right up, and the engine and transmission are smooth, strong, and powerful. Here is a list of some recent updates and repairs: 1. New dual exhaust system, stock except mufflers are flowmaster type that have a nice sound. 2. New exhaust manifold gaskets, doughnuts, and heat riser valve 3. New A-Frame bushings, shocks, and alignment 4. Brakes and wheel cylinders replaced. 5. Radiator, heater core, water pump, belts, and hoses replaced. Cooling system flushed and new antifreeze. 6. Carburetor rebuilt. 7. Battery and alternator replaced. 8. Full tune-up 9. Lube, oil, and filter. 10. The man had purchased a kit to convert the car to power steering, but never got around to doing it. The kit is included with the purchase of the car if you choose to do this. Personally, I like it the way it is, but to each his own. In short, most everything has been done to make this car reliable and fun to drive. Only deviation I see from original is that the original distributor was replaced with a high quality Mallory unit. Also, the car originally had single exhaust. It was replaced with a stock optional dual exhaust, except mufflers are the flow-master type. This car looks just as good as it runs! The body is one of the straightest I have ever seen! Panels are not rusted or patched; same with floors. Paint is 15 or 16 years old, but still looks super! Very smooth with great gloss; NOT faded, dinged up, or worn. Chrome, trim, and brightwork also look extremely nice. I don't see anything pitted or worn through. Interior is awesome! No rips, cracks, or tears in carpet, upholstery, padded dash, or headliner. Door panels and armrests are also nice. Everything works fine, except clock works when it feels like (about half the time), and radio comes on, makes noise, but does not play. I suspect a bad antenna connection, but have not verified this. Defrost, heater, and wipers all work. All windows roll up and down fine. Rubber gaskets around doors, windows, and trunk all look good and seal well. Un-molested "survivor" cars are the up and coming thing in the collector car hobby. They are only stock and original once! You can have a nice non-depreciating classic 60s car that is easy to work on for less than the price of many late model, plastic, computerized "throwaway" used cars! Remember, spring is here! Forget the snow and think of those car shows, cruise-ins, and fun sunny days that are now with us! About me: I collect and fool with nice un-restored vintage "survvor" cars from the late 1950s to the early 1980s. I keep a "rotating collection" of about 6 to 8 cars. I will sometimes sell a car out of the collection to make some room. This is one of those cars. I also somtimes will offer a nice inexpensive regular used auto for sale. I have been at the same location for over 23 years, and have been an old car hobbyist for over 35 years! Again, please call me at 704-661-1326 with any questions. Now for the rules: 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $2000 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 6 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and title will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my pemisies with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it still YOUR responsibility. 7. VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ! I am leaving on or about May 5 on an extended 3 to 4 month trip! It is absolutely essential that the car is paid for by then! I would also prefer that car is picked up by then. If pickup is not possible by then, we can make arrangements to have car kept with a friend of mine until your transporter gets here. However, I must know about this in advance, and car still must be paid for within the 6 days of auction's end. I am not responsible for acts of God or circumstances beyond my control. You should arrange insurance on the car while it is here as I cannot be responsible for this. Please call me if you have any questions about this! 704-661-1326. It is VERY IMPORTANT! 8. An administrative fee of $125.00 will be charged in addition to the bid price. This goes toward my advertising expenses, paperwork, temp tag, etc. It does not cover all of these expenses, but goes toward defraying some of them. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 with any further questions about this. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326 with any questions. NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE!
