Vehicle Detail
Here is an absoluetly IMMACULATE 1977 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royale 2-Door Sport Coupe! 1977 was the first year of the really nice "downsized" GM full sized vehicles that actually were about the same size as the previous year's midsized cars. The Olds 88 was one of the more handsome of the trim new GM cars! This one has been until recently a 1 family owned local car that has never seen bad weather, snow or salt! It has 26,000 ACTUAL TOTAL MILES SINCE NEW! It is a spectacular original un-restored "Survivor" car that still has its original paint, chrome, trim, interior, and vinyl top! In fact until a week ago, it was still riding on its original tires! I deemed that being nearly 35 years old, these tires were not safe to ride on, so I had 4 brand new correct whitewall radials installed. I have kept the original tires and put them in the trunk, in case you want them for their collector's sake. Original spare is still in new condition and is also in the trunk. Also, I changed the original belts, and have saved them as well. This Royale is equipped with the very rare 403 cubic inch (6.6 liter) 4BBL Oldsmobile V8. This was the same engine that was installed in many late 1970s Pontiac Trans Ams. The car also has the seldom seen Turbo-400 transmission. Most were 200s and Turbo-350s. This is an absolutely "bullet-proof" power train. It is also mated to the 2.41 highway economy rear end for kind of a "Turnpike Cruiser" package similar to what Olds did on some late 1960s Cutlasses. I have put about 250 plus miles on the car in the last week, and the fuel economy is surprisingly good. I have been getting about 15-16 MPG local driving, and about 19-20 MPG highway, all on 87 octane regular gas. Additionally, this Olds has the following other features: 1. F-41 Heavy Duty Sport Suspension 2. Power Steering and Power Disc Brakes 3. Landau Top 4. AM/FM Stereo Radio with Power Antenna 5. Power Windows 6. Power Seat 7. Power Trunk Release 8. Cruise Control 9. Tilt Steering Wheel 10. Wire Wheelcovers 11. Royale Package with deluxe velour cloth interior I am truly amazed at how really nice un-restored original this car truly is! The original paint is bright and shiny with no checking or crazing. Factory painted pinstripes are also beautiful. Car does not even have the usual chips and door dings that you typically see. Mouldings, chrome, emblems, and vinyl top are all crisp, fresh, and bright with no fading or deterioration. Trunk looks like nothing was ever put in it until I put the original tires in. I was careful to have them put in plastic bags so that trunk would not get dirty. Under the hood, the engine compartment is all original un-restored and still looks great! Interior is truly immaculate and still has that "new car smell"! Again, no rips tears, or deterioration on the inside. My camera is no good at underside shots on the ground, and I don't have a lift. However, I can assure you that underneath, the car is just as clean. No problems with floor pans or frame etc. In short, if you didn't know this was a 1977 model, from a condition point of view, you would think you were looking at a 1 year to 2 year old car that had been very well maintained! This is what you would have seen at your Oldsmobile Dealer's used car department in 1978 or early 1979! As expected with a 26,000 mile car, this Olds is strong, powerful, and tight! Drives and handles very well. No smoking or leaking. Just a great all-around road car. I wouldn't be afraid to jump in and drive anywhere. I have noticed a couple of minor things with the car: 1. The clock works only when it feels like it 2. The power antenna motor works, but I believe the gear is stripped, keeping the antenna stuck in the down position. The radio still gets FM reception, despite this. I have ordered a new replacement power antenna. It will go with the car at no additional charge. In fact, if it gets here in time, I will try to have it installed before car leaves here. No promises on this, though due to time considerations. Un-molested "survivor" cars are the up and coming thing in the collector car hobby. They are only stock and original once! You can have a nice non-depreciating classic car that is easy to work on for less than the price of many late model, plastic, computerized "throwaway" used cars! Remember, spring is here! Forget the snow and think of those car shows, cruise-ins, and fun sunny days that are now with us! About me: I collect and fool with nice un-restored vintage "survvor" cars from the late 1950s to the early 1980s. I keep a "rotating collection" of about 6 to 8 cars. I will sometimes sell a car out of the collection to make some room. This is one of those cars. I also somtimes will offer a nice inexpensive regular used auto for sale. I have been at the same location for over 23 years, and have been an old car hobbyist for over 35 years! Again, please call me at 704-661-1326 with any questions. Now for the rules: 1. Your bid is a contract! If you are the successful bidder, you are expected to pay! Please have all contingencies handled and your money in place BEFORE you bid! 2. A NON-REFUNDABLE $1500 partial payment is due within 48 hours of auction's conclusion. This can be by bank wire transfer or cashiers check. Pay Pal is NOT acceptable for this. 3. Balance is due within 6 days of auction's close. This can be by bank wire transfer, cashiers check or cash in person. If you are paying balance upon pickup of car, it must be cash in person. 4. Car and title will not leave here until paid in full with cleared funds. No exceptions! 5. Car is sold strictly as-is at my pemisies with no guarantee or warranty of any kind. 6. Transportation is the buyer's responsibility. I will try to reasonably help and accommodate you any way I can, but it still YOUR responsibility. 7. VERY IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ! I am leaving on or about May 5 on an extended 3 to 4 month trip! It is absolutely essential that the car is paid for before then! I would also prefer that car is picked up by then. If pickup is not possible by then, we can make arrangements to have car kept with a friend of mine until your transporter gets here. However, I must know about this in advance, and car still must be paid for within the 6 days of auction's end. I am not responsible for acts of God or circumstances beyond my control. You should arrange insurance on the car while it is here as I cannot be responsible for this. Please call me if you have any questions about this! 704-661-1326. It is VERY IMPORTANT! 8. An administrative fee of $125.00 will be charged in addition to the bid price. This goes toward my advertising expenses, paperwork, temp tag, etc. It does not cover all of these expenses, but goes toward defraying some of them. 9. Car is advertised locally for sale. If I find a buyer through that venue, I reserve the right to end auction early. Please call me at 704-661-1326 with any further questions about this. I am sorry for all the rules, but it seems that 5% of difficult people spoil it for the 95% who are good. Thanks very much for looking! Again, please feel free to call 704-661-1326 with any questions. NO RESERVE! NO RESERVE! On Apr-24-11 at 06:01:43 PDT, seller added the following information: Also: for those who asked, the car does have factory air conditioning. I was using it this week when I was driving it.
