Vehicle Detail

I hate to part with Gus, our beloved Bus, but my other car went down and as much as I may not want to admit it, a 1973 VW Bus isn't ideal for a single car family. Some of the highlights: -Engine was replaced in 2000, currently ~45,000 on the engine -To the best of my knowledge this is a 2.0L Power Master engine built by GEX International. It has hydraulic lifters. -About 100 miles on a head job performed at an air cooled engine expert done here locally for me. -Complete tune up: new spark plugs, oil, oil filter, engine compartment gasket. -Transmission was rebuilt in 2001, ~40,000 on the transmission -The Van sat for about 5 years before we purchased it -Fresh professional paint job. Two tone, beautifully done. A couple of nicks here and there, but all in all, better than you'll see from anything but a show car. The original color was burnt orange. You can still see it in a couple of places. I'd like to keep that color in the 70's. Hence the Mint Green which was one of the colors you could get if you had bought this van new in 1973. -New headliner. Still some work to be done, but it's in, which if you know anything about headliners, is a bear of a job. -New white-wall tires. I just bought them 8 months ago, but I was in Korea for 6 months so they don't have a lot of wear on them -New clutch cable -Engine runs beautifully, obviously doesn't like to start up when it's cold outside, but it starts and runs no problem. It will reach 65 on the freeway, 70 if you really push it. -New Battery -New front seat vinyl -New Pioneer GPS CD/Radio with USB port system, amp and 4 speakers. -New Carpet -New Windshield and vent windows -New Window and door seals -New Locking Gas Cap -New Heater Boxes -New shocks -New seat belts throughout, including retracting three point harnesses in front -New aftermarket center console with cup holders -Undercarriage has been treated with a corrosion resistant coating. The body is rust free as far as I can see. The orange color in the picture of the undercarriage is the original paint showing through, not rust. I've also got some extras that are shown in one of the pictures. Don't get me wrong, there's still some work to be done. Once it became my daily driver I just ran out of time dealing with it. All the work besides the carpet was done professionally, with the maintenance done at a local air cooled engine, VW specialist. One of the turn signals and brake lights doesn't work. It's not a bulb. I honestly haven't put the time and effort to determine what the issue is. The interior still needs some work, but it wouldn't take much to make this into a real gem of a bus. The dash has some cracks in it. I've looking into refinishing it and it will cost about $150 to repair. The steering wheel is nothing pretty to look at. They run about $100. The rear seats are useable, but could stand to be resurfaced. I'm not sure how much this will cost. The milage shown above is the milage on the odometer. I do not know how many miles are actually on the bus. Thanks for looking!
