Vehicle Detail
1992 BMW K100RS Sport Touring bike with ABS and heated grips. The 1992 K100RS has the 16 valve engine from the K1 bike. In 1993 the K1100RS came out with a different engine and body style. 1992 was the last year for the original style of the KRS. I am the 4th owner and have the vehicle history back to when it was first titled. Each owner has been a BMW enthusiast and has known the previous owner. Repair and maintenance records/receipts were passed down. The bike has 55,000 miles on it. It is ridden regularly. The transmission was rebuilt at 40,000 miles by a BMW shop. Regular service intervals have been maintained since new. Drive spline lube, oil change, etc. are all up to date. All repairs have been done over the years with BMW parts. The bike starts and runs great, shifts smoothly, and is in excellent condition. Always garaged, never down. The paint is all original and has picked up a few nicks over the years- a scrape on throttle side upper fairing, a scrape on clutch side lower fairing, and a few scratches on the chin fairing (see pictures). The blue "hi beam" indicator light bulb burnt out recently. The hi-beams work, however the indicator light on the dash doesn't light up anymore. I haven't taken the instrument cluster apart to replace it yet. That's it as far as negatives- a few scrapes and the hi beam indicator light bulb needs replacing. On the plus side- The bike has been extremely well maintained over the years. The first owner had it pinstriped. It picked up a corbin custom seat along the way and has a remus exhaust (added two years ago). The bike gets favorable comments wherever it goes. You will notice the side cases/saddle bags look brand new- they are. Last year I was sideswiped on the highway. The bike did not go down but the cover on the left (clutch) side bag was ripped off. I replaced both bags with new bags (keyed to the ignition key) and have the old right side one too. The black dots on the front fairing are for an aeroflow wind screen. If you haven't tried an aeroflow screen- get one. They improve the smooth air envelope and pop off in seconds for a factory look. The mounting tabs can be removed without damaging the paint if you wish to do so. I included picture of the bike in "full touring" mode. Plenty of extras go with the bike- extra BMW oil filters, engine oil, gear oil, fork oil....also go with the bike. There is a BMW battery charger, a clymer manual, a set of bar backs (I didn't use them) and it even has factory liners for the side cases too. Why am I selling it? My kids college tuition, the economy, a new job, and the other bikes in the garage all played a role in the decision. You will love this bike. It is a great example of a well maintained flying brick. The tires have plenty of miles left on them. The battery is up to spec. A battery tender is connected to the bike when it is not being ridden. If you are from out of town- buy it, fly in, and ride it home. This time of year is a perfect time to tour the country. I set a very fair reserve price. It is priced to sell. Please e-mail any questions and I will do my best to answer promptly. Good luck with the auction.
