Vehicle Detail
1988 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ62 History: The original owner had it until 2005 (128K miles) when he sold it to a co-worker at a local corporation which is the gentlemen I purchased it from. I’m the third owner and have owed it since February of 2009. It had 144K miles on it when I purchased it. The Cruiser has a pristine CarFax history report dating back to its manufactured/shipped to dealer date (09/1988). Mechanical/Service: The Cruiser has the original drive train (3FE motor/Auto trans.) with less than 151K miles…no modifications. It has extensive service records dating back 17+ years from all three owners. Recent Maintenance: (since I have owned it) · Full tune up with new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel filter, etc. · All fluids changed. · New water pump, thermostat, hoses, and radiator flush. · New intake/exhaust gaskets. · Transmission serviced (new filter kit installed) · Transfer Case cleaned/serviced · Valves professionally adjusted · K&N Air Filter · New Battery · New Air Pump · New struts on the lift gate · Steering knuckles/hubs completely rebuilt with all new knuckle bearings, wheel bearings, axel seals, etc…Full kit with Koyo bearings from Cruiser Outfitters. · New relay rods/tie rod ends installed by Les Schwab · Thrust angle alignment-Les Schwab · New tires at 146K miles-Les Schwab Cruiser runs and drives great! Passes emissions with flying colors! The AC (converted to 134) blows cold and heat blows hot. 4wd works great. Like the majority of these, it has a very small oil leak/seepage from the rear seal…not even enough of a leak to have to add oil between changes but will drop a spot of oil on the ground from time to time. I keep it clean to avoid much of this. Body/Interior: As you can see from the pictures the Cruiser is clean and looks really good. The interior is in good shape. The dash is nice shape, the front passenger area carpet looks good/serviceable, and it has a nice CD player with a remote control. The original power antenna has been replaced with a manual antenna. The seats are in nice shape with the exception of the side of the drivers seat (vinyl is cracked). If you have researched these you will know this is a common problem. There is also a small crack in the vinyl on the drivers’ door panel (also common). It has the original jack, tool kit, and spare tire. I put seat covers on the front seats, new rubber mats all the way around, and replaced the rear cargo area carpet with heavy duty automotive grade carpet. I also upgraded the rear outside seatbelts to shoulder belts with the SOR (Specter Off Road) OEM kit from Toyota (nice upgrade for the 88). The body is clean and looks good. The paint is generally in nice shape and I think looks better than average for a 23 year old vehicle. There have been some areas touched up over the years but as a whole it looks really nice (you can see this in the pics). There are a couple of small dents on the top of the drivers side front fender, a small crease on the passenger side of the hood, some blemishes in the front passenger side door, a scratch/dent by the rear drivers side vent, and a very small spot of rust on the rear lift gate. It also has spot of rust on the rear bumper and the wheels look nice but they do have the usual pitting in some spots. Other than this there is only a few spots of very, very, minor surface rust on the body like on the edges of a rock chip, scratch, etc. What you would expect on any vehicle. The Cruiser lives in the high dessert (very dry climate) so we don’t have rust issues like some other parts of the country. This thing is very solid and has been garaged! In the grand scheme of things the above mentioned issues are very minor and are hard to even see in the photo’s but I want to note everything I’m aware of. I removed the rocker trim from both sides (one was falling apart) when I got it and touched up the paint (rock chips). The mounting holes for the trim pieces were filled with color matched nylon plugs to keep water out and to keep the rockers rust free (which they are!). I intended on either finding new trim pieces or having the area Rhino lined but never got around to it. I added Thule cross bars on the roof and as you can see it has a heavy duty custom front bumper. This is a really nice Land Cruiser that runs and drives great. You can easily fly in and drive this one home. Being an FJ62 you get the classic look with fuel injection and an automatic. In my opinion the best they made. I wouldn’t hesitate to drive it anywhere. As you can see the mileage at the time of listing is 150,615. This is a daily driver and I will do test drives for local buyers so miles at delivery will be slightly higher (less than 151K). The vehicle is sold as is with no warranty implied or expressed. I have a clean Idaho title in hand. Considering what other FJ62’s of this quality/low mileage are selling for (9-12K), I have set a very reasonable reserve price. It is listed to sell! Winning bidder must make a $500 deposit via PayPal with in 48 hours of the auction close. Full payment must be received within 7 days of auction close (cash in hand or certified cashiers check). All funds must be received and clear before the vehicle will be released. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. Thanks and happy bidding!
