Vehicle Detail
Factory made 4 door GEO EV sedan by US ELECTRICAR US ELECTRICAR was a company that developed electric cars from Hughes and GM. Therefore this EV Car uses an AC motor and controller, which became the technology that EV1 car and most EV cars use today. This car runs like new and is in great operating condition. It is a freeway drive car and goes 65 MPH and can drive about 50 miles per charge with new batteries. The car has regenerative braking, so when the brakes are applied the batteries get recharged. Currently with the existing battery pack the car drives about 10 miles per charge, so a new battery pack is recommended. A new pack cost around $3,000 and uses the 12 volt Odyssey dry cell PC 925 AGM battery at a quantity of 52 or a similar battery. The battery pack is configured in two banks of 26 batteries, or at 312 volts DC nominal, and are mounted under the on a removable pan by 10 bolts. A battery array change out takes about a day for two people and last about five years depending on use. Lithium battery packs for about 100 mile drive range are also available and would last about 10 years. Link for the battery type used: http://www.odysseybatteries.com/battery/pc925.htm If your thinking of getting an electric vehicle this is an inexpensive way to own a great EV car and avoid having to buy gas at all and still be able to drive on the freeway or about town for your everyday drive. The car drives like a regular car at higher efficiencies like 90%. Features: No Gas No Gas tank No Exhaust No Gas engine Little maintenance No oil changes 4 door car Large trunk Great condition Factory made Current design Regenerative braking The car charges on a simple 110 volt outlet or can charge faster at 220 Volts. Usual charge is about 6 hours or less depending on the state of charge. Car make little noise and drives smoothly up to 65 MPH. Acceleration is great and has quick pick up and go. I own three of these cars and love them, I am selling one to get some space and afford someone else the experience of the fun of driving an electric car. The new owner of this vehicle should be aware of the use of electric vehicles, battery packs and the safety needed in servicing the battery pack. The exterior paint and body are in excellent condition. The interior needs to be cleaned a bit, but otherwise is also in excellent condition. Under the hood is like new, and is in perfect condition with the interior space heater element needing to be replaced being the only part needed. Tires look good, radio works, and all lights seem to function perfectly. On Apr-14-11 at 17:07:30 PDT, seller added the following information: Update / Note: The Odyssey PC 925 battery may be more expensive now then when I based my estimated replacement pricing, based upon a quotation I got a few months back. Batteries are cheaper by the bulk quantity and this car uses 52 of them. You may save some money on a replacement pack by using another manufacturer of battery like Full River, which have very similar specifications. However the Odyssey batteries and Hawkers are proven to work well in these cars. A better Lithium pack would be at least 30% lighter and should give you about twice the range. So, one may want to just integrate the car with a more powerful lithium pack, battery management system (BMS) and integrated charger to then make this car to be comparable with the new EV cars on the market today. A typical Lithium pack could be configured from: http://www.manzanitamicro.com/ This car may also become a collectors item because it has a motor and controller that is similar to the Tesla, or was the original design concept. So, this is the original traction motor design that most EV cars are based upon now... Motor controller with a AC three phase motor powered from a DC battery pack at a nominal voltage of 312 volts. Please see the answers to questions as listed below... See: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/uselectricar/ On Apr-18-11 at 17:41:45 PDT, seller added the following information: The car model is a Prizm 4 door, not a metro and there are 50 batteries in the pack and one aux battery under the hood for a total of 51. The existing pack may be fine, of give enough range, if cycled with a few charges or simply load test each battery and just replace the ones that do not test as well. On Apr-19-11 at 18:03:11 PDT, seller added the following information: 4/19/11 Update Took the car out for a test drive, it drives great! It has a lot of pep and drives great just the way it is... I took a 5 mile trip to the store and back, a lot of fun not using gas!! So, one can not bother with the batteries for now and use the car as is, for it may get more range with use. On Apr-21-11 at 19:23:36 PDT, seller added the following information: Car detailed inside and out by detail company today, looks like new inside and out. Also drove it down to the beach for a sunset! Seems to get more range as the batteries wake up back to life with a few cycles. New pictures attached... On Apr-22-11 at 12:29:38 PDT, seller added the following information: Registration said car is a 1993 year model, license fee are up to date and car has motorized rear view mirrors on both sides. I will help load car onto car carrier, no problem! This car sold in San Diego, without delivery or extended warranty. Side Note to interested parties: I may be selling my S-10 EV US Electric Car Truck which does have new batteries and 40 mile range, as shown in the photo here, next month, so stay tuned for a chance to own a factory made EV truck that is perhaps better than the complexity of the Ford Ranger EV truck.
