Vehicle Detail
1997 Dodge 4X4 Extended Cab Diesel/ WVO No more high diesel bills with this WVO converted Cummins! This 12 valve cummins has been converted to run on WVO (waste vegatable oil) OR diesel. Start it on diesel, drive until normal operating temp is reached (about 190 degrees), flip 2 swiches and you are running for free on WVO. Flip the switches back to diesel about 5 minutes before shutting down. Nothing to it! Just saving money! Since converting to WVO I have made over a dozen trips to Houston Tx from SLC Ut. Over 1200 miles one way. It is quite a feeling to keep passing all those gas stations. Most people want to know how running on veggie oil effects the power and mileage. It doesn't. I get the same performance and mileage regardless of which fuel I'm running. The WVO conversion includes 80 gal. WVO tank and in tank heat exchanger Heated WVO lines from veggie tank forward Heated WVO filter (can by at any auto parts store for about $8, I get mine at NAPA) 26 plate WVO heat exchanger 2 HD electric switches HD WVO priming pump Coolant isolation valves Truck also has: Gooseneck ball and chain rings New front shocks Air bag rear suspension Added rear leaf spring Aluminum check plate tool box Mickey Thompson MTZ 315/16 tires Leather seat covers The 12 Valve Cummins is notably the best engine to use with WVO. The motor has been said to be "Bulletproof", the strong lift pump and mechancial injector pump make it so. Never had ANY issues running straight WVO on a 12 valve! The truck does have 330k miles and still runs great. I drive it every day. The transmission has had minor issues ever since I bought it several years ago. It has done the same thing the entire time, has not gotten worse and doesn't really effect me. When accelerating harder it seems to hop until I let off the throttle a little, the same when pulling my 30ft camper up a hill. If I get into the throttle to much it will "hop" until I let off a little. It always gets me where I'm going. I pull the camper about twice a month and I just manage the transmission and am fine. The tires are ok and will need replacing soon. A few minor dips of oil on the ground where I park it. Interior is in good condition. The head liner has a small tear in it and is falling as seen in pictures. The clear coat is peeling in several places as is common on these trucks and is also seen in the pictures. Oil changed more often than probably necessary. I don't like black oil. I'm happy to teach who ever buys the truck how to collect and clean their WVO and will include a full tank which might get them all the way home for FREE! Quite a savings with $4+ diesel prices.
