Vehicle Detail
1964 Volkswagen Sedan VIN 6376298 Odometer: 66083 - this could be 166083 or 266083 RELISTED - the winning bidder informed me that a current title was required in her state. I have the title that was assigned to me in 1991, but because Connecticut did not require it, it was never submitted. It looks like it went through the wash some years ago. "The acquisition of a certificate of title for any vehicle manufactured prior to 1981 shall not be required. The commissioner, in his discretion, may issue such certificate of title for such a vehicle." http://www.ct.gov/dmv/cwp/view.asp?a=816&Q=244698&dmvPNavCtr=|#30286 What can I say? This car came from Colorado around 1990. I purchased it in 1991, parked it, then sold it a couple of years later. In June 1997 I wound up buying it again. Another VW enthusiast had bought it for parts, since the chrome and tail lights were very nice. This time I drove it for a few years. According to my records, I put 10,000 miles on it. The clutch arm gave out in 2000 or 2001. It has been stored since then, inside for 8 years, then under a roof and covered for the last 2-1/2 years. Connecticut salt roads started taking their toll on the body. I sprayed some expanding foam in the right side rocker panel and front left fender to keep the heat in and the cold out. The body is relatively sound and intact. See pictures. The car was painted black before I first saw it in 1990. In 20 years, I haven't touched the body or the paint (except for the foam). The rear tires are shot from age. When were snow tires last manufactured for these? There is no radio. I haven't checked the engine, but it was running when I parked it 10 years ago. It rolled well when I towed it 2-1/2 years ago.
