Vehicle Detail
I listed this car a month or so ago and the bid came within a a couple hundred dollars of my reserve. Perhaps this time I will make a few changes with a little more info and a couple more pics. To begin with, I do have the original build sheet. It was found on top the gas tank when replacing the fuel sending unit. Following the build sheet, everything is as follows. This 1970 Monte Carlo is a true LS6 360 hp SS454 with an M40 code 3 speed Automatic Transmission. It has a 12 bolt rear end with a 256 gear ratio. It came equipped with Auto Level, Pwr windows, AC, Pwr Brakes, Pwr Steering, Front and Rear Sway Bars and other accessories that I will be happy to describe if you contact me. The clock does not work and the Auto Level Pump is not on the car. It has the original carburator which was rebuilt by National Carburators within the past year. I have owned the car a couple years and have made a few improvements such as a new battery, alternator, tires, brakes and numerous other things. The car was born Silver but was changed to Forest Green just before I purchased it. It has a new vinyl roof, carpet, and I had the original cloth seats re-upholstered with vinyl last year. All door, window and trunk moldings were removed and replaced with new when it was painted. There are a few blemishes in the paint on top of the quarter panel just below the vinyl roof halo. I have an estimate to touch it up for $300 if I furnish the paint, but it has not been a matter of great concern to me. I find no evidence of rust either in the trunk or under the car. A body man did tell me the patch panels have been replaced. The bumpers are either new or have been replaced. It has a pretty mellow Flowmaster exhaust system. The car runs strong and I was told the engine was restored within the past 20,000 miles. There is evidence the engine has been dismantled because of the RTV sealants on the valve covers, timing cover and oil pan. It was originally sold by Johnson Chevrolet Co., Indianapolis, In. Research indicates I am the third owner. The car is in very good condition. The odometer reads 118,000. JohnOn Apr-09-11 at 08:16:31 PDT, seller added the following information: The build sheet calls for an LS5, 360 hp. I incorrectly typed in LS6, 360 hp. I cannot correct it on the original listing.
