Vehicle Detail
I purchased this car locally a few years ago from a lady who was storing it in her garage for a few years. She told me that she and her husband purchased the car in the early 1990s from a Ford dealer in Ohio who was also a car collector. Since the car had not been used the last few years, the brakes needed attention. I replaced all the brake lines the wheel cylinders and the brake hoses. I also bought the master cylinder rebuild kit, but never installed it as the brakes are now working fine. I think I also installed new brake shoes, but I can't remember for sure. Fresh gas, and fluid changes were also done as well as two new mufflers. The car now runs, stops and drives very well. The Pennsylvania title came back as "not actual mileage". Pennsylvania sometimes does that when an older car changes hands after not being driven much. I cannot verify the mileage as correct at 65,400 miles, but the condition of the car sure looks like the miles are correct. Also, there are old oil change stickers on the drivers door that show the progression of miles over the years. Exterior, Paint & Body: The paint on the hood, roof, and trunk appear to be the factory finish to me. There are a few places on the hood and trunk where the paint looks a little thin, however the top looks amazingly good and I can find no evidence of those areas being repainted. The sides of the car were repainted some time ago and the left front looks like it was repainted again later and the paint doesn't exactly match. (It looks just like the photos show) Looking closely at the right door shows evidence of dent repair that isn't perfect. I tried to photograph it, but it wouldn't show. There is some chips and flaws in the finish as you would expect from a car over 50 years old with some areas repainted years ago. I can see no evidence that the car was ever rusted and repaired. Fenders and quarter panel wheelwells as well as lower panels are very solid and all steel. Overall, the body and paint finish is very presentable as you can see in the photos. The paint code on the trim tag is correctly coded for Regatta Blue with Blue/White interior. I believe this was one of their later "springtime" colors. In my opinion it is a nicer blue than the light powder blue seen of other Thunderbirds. The previous owner replaced the top of front fender ornaments with ones from a 59 or 60 car. I don't know why this was done but the originals were in the car and they are very nice. They are an easy bolt on switch. If you are local you are invited to come see the car in person. I think you will be impressed with how nice the car is. Exterior Chrome: One of the things that impressed me about this car was the condition of the chrome. The plating is in excellent condition and I can find no pitting on any of it except just a little on the trunk emblem. Notice in the close ups of the roof trim and windshield piller how nice those pieces look. The bumpers are clean and shiny but there are some scratches on them. The rear bumper has a small dent in it as shown in the photos. Interior: The seats and carpeting look very good with a little wear on the driver's seat where everyone slides in and out. This can be seen in the photos. All lights, gauges, idiot lights, and power window motors work fine. I disconnected the horn because it would sometimes beep when I turned the steering wheel. The wipers don't work and I didn't even look to see why. I don't use it when it rains, and I cannot fit under the dash to look at it. Other: The engine compartment is clean and the trunk is also. The valve covers are not original but I think the chrome ones look better on the engine. I have the original valve covers and they will go with the car. The tires are a matched set and have deep thread. Please, don't offer any vehicles in trade. I recently bought an expensive collector car that I'm still paying off. Payment: $500 deposit needed within 24 hours of winning the bid. Balance due in 7 days by bank transfer, cashiers check or cash if picking up in person. Car does not leave my garage until I have guaranteed good funds. Foreign buyers okay, but shipping must be arranged by the buyer. I have no idea how to ship internationally. Payment by bank transfer only. Buyer pays all shipping costs. I will assist in arranging pickup, etc. Powered by eBay Turbo Lister The free listing tool.
