I DO NOT THINK YOU WILL FIND A ALMOST RUST FREE SCOUT BODY BETTER THEN THIS ONE,THE USUAL SPOTS LIKE THE ROCKERS,FUEL TANK AND REAR QUARTERS ARE IN FANTASTIC CONDITION. AND THE BODY HAS ONLY A FEW VERY SMALL DINGS IN IT, EXCEPT ROOF IT IS A VERY SMOOTH BODY. NO FLOOR PANS WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. This auction is on a 1964 Red Carpet Scout 80 also known as a Doll-up-Scout. In September of 1964 the 100,000th Scout rolled across the production line. To commemorate this auspicious occasion - Two special edition Scouts were produced. They were sold in limited quantities. Known as “Doll-up” Scouts, The Red Carpet Scout and the Champagne Scout. Each had special features that separated them from all other Scouts. This auction is for one of these! The "Red Carpet" Series, model had a red interior with a white exterior, full length headliner and full floor mats, and a special medallion affixed to the door.Almost Everything was red, down to the gear shift knobs and seat adjustment lever. We have a copy of the original Line Setting ticket to verify it is Doll-up Red Carpet Model. It is in exceptional restorable condition. It is a California Scout and does NOT have the normal rusty areas common to early Scouts. (the area in front of the rear wheels and around the fuel tanks.) are in very good condition. Fenders,tailgate,rockers,bed are all just light surface rust,one small one inch area in drivers floorboard has a notable hole The Good: This is a Scout with NO heavy rust! California vehicle. It does have some surface rust, but nothing cancerous. Body is very straight, undercarriage, end caps and even the rocker panels have no rust. Overall a very solid Scout. No bondo. Both front seats and Back Seat are included. Very difficult to find. Even the plastic formers on the arms are in great condition. Yes, they will need refurbishing, but you have enough material to see what the original looked like in order to match it with texture and color and design. Warn IH lockout hubs Vehicle body (tub) is in exceptional condition,body is smooth very straight. There are only a few (4) small dings worthy of mention on the whole body,and these are small. The gas tank under body area and covers are very good Flip down Windshield Passenger seat can be flipped forward for easy entry to the back seat as well as pins for easy removal of passenger seat. Tail gate is almost perfect. Hood is also very good Both windshield wiper mechanisms seem to be complete 3 of the original rims. Engine located in the back with the transmission. The engine is supposed to be the exact model engine for 1964 but it is not the original engine that was originally installed in this Scout. I do not know any thing about the engine or if it will run. All glass except windshield is good CUSTOM emblem on both doors (chrome) Have clear California TITLE and copy of build sheet. The Bad: Right passenger door someone cut a whole in the inside door panel allowing water to sit in the bottom of it and therfore it rusted a whole in the bottom of the door. I believe it would need to be replaced. windshield is cracked Top (roof) is dented just above windshield (tree branch fell)pretty big dent This is the same top as other 80 Scouts though, so should be easy to replace. Pans and flooring are good, but not perfect, there is some light flaking of rust on the inside due to water standing in floor pans. Ashtray is missing. Wire mesh on grill is bent Headlight bezels are really good, but not perfect. Very small dings (only a couple) Tar has dripped onto the hood. Hood is in excellent shape otherwise. Not twisted or dented or modified. Bumpers are both original, but do have some straightening needed, but not anything major. Tranny cover on the inside, someone widened one of the holes. (Visible in pics.) In need of a couple of dash panel switches. Radiator bulkhead has been cut, will need repair or another installed. Plywood was placed over bed of truck. Seems to have been helpful, Bed seems to have no holes, no dents, no rust visible from underneath. Little ding under tail light on passenger side Need to replace the gas tank flange on the driver’s side This is a great overall condition scout,and actually the only unrestored one i have ever seen WITHOUT the usual rusted areas.
