Vehicle Detail

- Up for auction is my 1959 Mercedes 220S Sedan for restoration. I purchased this car over 2 years ago from the previous owner in Ohio. That owner installed a new headliner, painted the car black, original color was medium blue, paint code 350H, had the engine rebuilt in 2005 and various other mechanical work done. I have receipts for the engine rebuild. Unfortunately I do not have any other documents or owner manuals - However according to the previous owner after the rebuild an oil seepage appeared between the crankcase and head after return from the rebuilder. The shop didnt think it was all that bad but the owner thought different and wanted the engine taken apart and done over. The shop wanted to be paid again. That did not happen and the owner stored the car in his garage in 2005 and never drove it again. Not sure what needs to be done but there is an extra head that is included with this sale. Maybe it is just a gasket replacement needed or the head needs to be remilled. A Mercedes shop in Texas told the previous owner to use 2 gaskets??? I never heard of that before but I am not much of a mechanical expert. The engine does turn over freely but I have not had the car on the road since I purchased back in early 2009. The car has been stored in my garage since then and I have not done a thing to it since. Time to go! - Interior wood trim/dash appears to have been refinished at one point - Brakes work somewhat but most likely will need some rework. Clutch same condition. Shifter works through all speeds but have not driven the car - The car was winched on my trailer when I purchased it - Carpeting will be needed - Seats and door panels were recovered with incorrect material - looks like 70's style - No radio - New headliner - All glass in great shape and all windows operate as they should - Tool kit - Odometer indicates 91095 but title shows 95375, not sure why that is? Has a notorized clear Ohio title. - All the doors close and shut as they should - still has that Mercedes "clunk" when you close the doors - Exterior paint has its share of chips and scratches - might clean/buff out for a driver class. I went over the entire body with a magnet and found no bondo/plastic anywhere. I did find a 2 inch spot of body putty in the front driver fender, not from any rust but possibly a small dent. The only sign of rust was found in the battery area but not significant, still very solid. The frame, trunk, body and even the tourque arm mounting areas are solid with no rust or rust repair. No evidence of collision repair that I could find. Under the doors, upper rear wheel wells, spare tire wells, pillars and frame rails are all very solid and rust free. This was the primary reason I had purchased this car as I was amazed how rust free and dry it was. However this is not a show car - Since 2009 I have not done anything with it and I have decided to pass it on to someone else. Being sold as is with no warranty - I encourage any serious buyer or their agent to see the car for your self inspection, I am available for appointment most of the time - I have a reasonable reserve - I may end the auction early if sold locally before reserve met. I will accomodate shippers as best I can but shipping cost to be paid by the buyer. Email with any questions. On Apr-03-11 at 19:19:21 PDT, seller added the following information: Thanks to a viewer to point out an error in the listing indicating the model year at 58 and 59 in the description. The car is a 1959 model year which is also on the title. I apologize for the oversight.
