1975 Datsun 280Z Description: Nice driver with solid fundamentals. 110,xxx miles. Either use as a dependable great looking driver, or take to next level and show. First year with fuel injection. Paint: Has been repainted, not frame off, but looks great. Engine: Runs great. No knocking. Uses maybe about a quart of oil between oil changes. No major oil leaks (no drops on driveway). Transmission: 4 speed manual, clutch is great. No issues. If ever went out, recommend replacing w/ 5 speed. At 80 mph, cruising around 3700 rpm. Air Conditioning: Works probably as good as the day it was built, which is to say, not that great. But it is functioning! Carpet: Newer. Looks great. Seats: Perfect. Door Panels: Passenger, fair, Driver side poor. O.K. condition for a driver, should replace driver side if want to show. Horn: Inoperable, have not investigated. Wooden steering wheel from older (240?) that looks great. Could be incompatibility between older steering wheel and correct horn cover. Brights: Dimmer switch inoperable, headlights stay on dim when turned on. Audio: Original AM/FM radio with functioning power antennae. If you're familiar with these, know reception is poor. Nice to keep for collectable value. Clock: Inoperable - rare to find one that works on these. Light behind clock is intermittent - tap on dash and it comes on. Dash: Has good dash cover. Rattles: Something in the right rear suspension. When I jack it up, I can't find anything loose. Haven't had anyone else look into. Windows rattle on bumpy roads, could use new window felts / rubber. Rust: Only ever seen one spot with rust through. It's underneath where the spare tire is stored. One hole about the size of a quarter. Some surface rust behind where the battery sits under the hood. Windshield washers: Can hear the motor sound, but it does not pump. Haven't had it looked into. Windshield: Fine for a driver. Car spent many years in Arizona (explains low rust). Cars spending much time in that area can get marks from the wiper blades and the abrasive dust. Heard that some know how to buff this out. Documentation: Comes with owner's manual and service manual. Taillight panels: Both sides cracked. Would want to replace if showing car. Map light: Intermittently works. Tires: Good condition, estimate ½ to 2/3 life remaining. This is as close to a full disclosure / full transparency listing as you will find. Bid with confidence in knowing what you are purchasing. I get 2 - 4 compliments on this car every week. You will love it. Have twins approaching driving age - not going to teach them in this car :-)
