Vehicle Detail

This is a GREAT 1988 Corvette, with a super paint job. Take a look at the clarity of the paint and the outstanding job in laying down a wonderful ghost flame. The primary color is white with a Gold Ghost Paint. The first picture shows the car in front of my house. You can see a hint of the ghost flame along with the beautiful custom rims. The ribs have gold accent on the inside of the mag. These are special order rims sold by GM, and have the full Corvette logo in the center cap. You can also see that the body is in very good shape. The very worst mark on the body is a light scuff shown in the middle photo. I believe this will buff out, but I didn't know have a buffing pad at the time I was taking the pictures, so I left it as it is. You'll see -- if you look closely -- on the left door (about where someone might scuff it with their boot) a small horizontal mark. This is NOT a scratch, but a scuff. You have to really look hard in the first two pictures (right under the middle part of the door) and on the 3rd picture you can see it a little better. Start at the back of the outside mirror and look straight down (about 2/3) on the door to see it. The other pictures show the back of the car (with current tag) and the rest of the car. You'll quickly see that there are no marks or major disfigurements. The car body is in excellent shape, and the paint is really first class. The pictures starting on the right side show the ghost flames a lot better. I could get the sun in a better spot to cut down on the shine, so you can see the true color of the flames. Notice also the gold tip dual-exhasut tips. The hood shot also shows the flames very well. These are not overpowering, but also are not so "ghost" like that you can't see them. They are just right for giving a nice accent without becoming the overwhelming center of attention for the car. I've included pictures of me changing the oil and doing minor maintenence. The car has alwasy been garage kept and is very good condition for this age. The motor runs very strong. The automatica transmission shifts smoothly. The air and heater work, as does the automatic control system. The radio works fine as well. There are no major problems with the interior. The windows rollup like they are supposed to. No major problems getting them in place or with the electric lift system. The door panels are in great condition, as is the interior leather. The seats are in great condition. The driver's seat does show some wear (mostly from jeans or wallets that have worn a small spot where you'd expect it on the seat as someone climbs in and out. The seats are not demolished, like some cars of this age, and will have many more miles of use in this. The electronic controls (up/back, etc.) all work as well. I do use a small lumbar support (I have a bad back, and this model doesn't have the adjustable air compressor type lumbar support that later models do). Carpet is in very good condition. No cigarette burns and no tears. The carpet is clean and easy to maintain. In fact, in one picture you can see part of the interior with my can sticking up between the driver's seat. I don't need it a lot, but I do take it in the car to help me get around when at car shows. I LOVE this car, but must sell it to pay for surgery for my wife. This is the 5th surgery, and our deductable is horrible. I won't bore you with details, but obviously the more I can get the better I'll be when comes time to pay for the medical bills. If you know Corvettes then you know that this model can vary widely in price. Low retail starts at $6500 and goes up to over $15,000 according to NADA. So let's be honest with each other. The average wholesale on a car like this is over $5k, but this car is far better than average. So I'll set the reserve much lower than it deserves to be. I'm not setting a Buy it Now simply because I want to get the most out of the car. I am setting the reserve at the $5850 just so that I can get a good sale. The average retail for thsi car is $10.9k. This car is better than average, though, so should likely sell on a retail lot for closer to $14,500. So let's get to the nitty-gritty ... I set the reserve at $5800, because that is my bottom dollar on this car right now. We're coming into prime convertible season, so I know I could probably get more by waiting another month or two. At the same time, I want this to go to a good home, so I'm listing it now. If you have questions about the car then please contact me. I will exchance phone numbers after you contact by email through Ebay. Please note, I also have the care listed locally for $7250, and reserve the right to take it down from the Ebay listing should I receive a firm offer. Similarly, a strong offer from an Ebay bidder will be treated like a local buyer. Also note, I will not provide any "test drives" unless you have proof of insurance for this particular car. Shoot, I wouldn't even let me son (who is in the Army) drive it, so you can get an idea of how I take care of it. Finally, there is one small problem that I need to make sure any buyer knows. Under the rear deck (stowage) lid is the release for the top. That release uses two cables that run from the center of the lid to the side of the deck lid, and when engaged release the pins holding the windows rear bow in place. These need to be replaced, and it is a $59 part at MidAmerican Motorworks. I will not fix it, just becuase it will take me too long to get the parts here. I wanted to tell the buyer this because right now the top has to be dropped manually rather than with the latch.
