Vehicle Detail
1967 CHEVROLET CAMARO RS/SS I've owned this camaro for about 20 years. It has a very sound (southern state) body. I cannot find any indication of body rust and no panels have been replaced. When we replaced the vinyl top 18 years ago all metal was sound around the rear window. The car has never been out in the weather since that time. The only exception for rust was inside the trunk under the trunk mat where it looked like moisture came in around the taillight gasket seals (prior to my ownership) and became trapped under the trunk mat. There was some pitting and pin holes there that we had repaired. It still checks out good after all these years. The paint is Ermine White (done 18 yrs ago). The paint is a high gloss clear coat and is of average quality. There are a very few tiny hail pecks on the trunk lid (you need excellent light to see them and they were missed when the paint job was done). The bumpers and trim are original equipment and are in good condition (trim around windshield and back glass have some distortions). All glass is factory tinted with the windshield having some minor chips. The rally sport headlights work correctly. They were installed new 18 years ago. This was a high option car from the factory and includes the following partial list: Deluxe Interior Rally Sport Package Positraction Axle Decor Equipment HD Battery Special Purpose Suspension Disc Brakes Power Steering Closed Engine Positive Ventilation Dual Deep Tone Horn Speed Warning Indicator Speed & Cruise Control Shoulder Harnesses Outside Remote Control Mirror AM/FM Radio Console Instrument Cluster Tinted Glass - All Comfort Tilt Steering Wheel Deluxe Steering Wheel Custom Deluxe Front & Rear Seat Belts Air Conditioning Vinyl Roof Headrest-Contour Seats Power Windows Door Edge Guards Rear Window Defroster Floormats Front Bumper Guards Rear Bumper Guards Folding Rear Seat Tri-Volume Horn Luggage Compartment Lamps Underhood Lamps Ashtray Lamp Instrument Panel Lamp Proc # Limited Prep 4 Season Air-Conditioning When we purchased this car it had the engine replaced and was no longer a number matching small block. In 2007, my friend at the local GM dealership talked me into an engine upgrade which was a 572 cu. in, 620 hp crate motor. I've shown the invoice in the pictures for these parts which came to $13,095.45. It came complete carburator, distributor, and water pump. We installed an extra capacity Milodon oil pan. I also purchased from GM the optional new style rotary AC compressor (134R), power steering pump, alternator, and serpentine belt system to modernize all accessory components. The car is solid and tight with most all equipment working correctly. The cruise control worked but there was not enough space to mount the vacuum diaphragm with the new engine. The windshield wiper unit has been upgraded to a new variable speed delay unit. The remote control mirror was replaced with a stock mirror. The power windows work correctly as do all guages, tacometer, and speed warning indicator. Also, the tilt steering column is tight. I built this car to drive on the street and it performs well. Performance upgrades include suspension components replaced with urethane bushings, the radiator is an aluminum (Be Cool) unit sized for this application. The suspension front and rear has QA1 components. The rear traction bars are Slide-A-Link system. The 31 spline Detroit Locker rear differential is a 9" Strange modular iron "S" series case with an aluminum Dayton pinion support, 1350 forged yoke, Motive performance gears 3.50:1 ratio, Mosier axles, 11" disc brakes with parking brake on rear and standard 4 piston disc brake calipers on the front. The drive shaft was built with 1350 yokes to handle this engines performance and has a drive shaft safety loop. The transmission is a 400 turbo built to specifications for this engine. It has a TCI Ultra Street Fighter 10" stall torque converter #241004. The exhaust consists of ceramic coated headers with 3" Flowmaster pipes and mufflers. For extra safety an eight point roll cage was added with the swing out door bar kit. This was done carefully so as not to damage any interior components and allow the fold down rear seat to operate correctly. This cage could easily be removed if desired without any damage to the car. Also added to the existing seat belt system, on the drivers seat is a five point G-Force Harness System. We set this car on weight scales used for stock car racing and adjusted the weight on all four tires with me seated in the drivers seat to the following: 828 lbs left rear 828 lbs right rear 1227 lbs left front 1102 right front Under acceleration this car goes straight and feels secure. My wife and I drive to car shows and weekend cruise events, etc. It has won several fan favorite trophies. I have never raced with it but in the summer of 2007 we went with friends to a Test and Tune event. We ran the AC on the trip there and made 5 quarter mile passes. The best quarter mile time on street tires was 11:98. We then drove home running the AC. We had a trip planned (500 miles) last summer but it was cancelled due to a family health problems. This car has been driven less than 1500 miles since engine, transmission, and suspension upgrades in 2007. The rally wheels are 7" width and have Dayton 235/60-15 tires which are in excellent condition. Most of the interior pictures show the swing out side roll bars removed from the roll cage. The interior seats, carpet, etc are in good condition. This car could be driven home if you purchase it or transportation is available at $1.50 per mile one way, paid in advance. Please do not bid on this car if you are not a serious buyer.
