Vehicle Detail
1979 Triumph Bonneville - Great condition and Low miles! Recently new Avon tires, new battery. I bought this bonnie a few years ago and have done quite a bit of work to bring it up to great running condition. Has a re-built front end with new fork tubes, progressive springs, professionally buffed, Progressive shocks. New Rear Master cylinder, braided Brake lines, New Brack disks and pads, New Chain and Sprocket, Replaced orignal handle bars with 1" rise bars and added bar-end mirrors to give it a more sporty look and feel I also replaced peashooter mufflers with Dunstalls, which added a lot of power by reducing back pressure and added a nice rumble. Saddle bags will be included in the sale. This bike will come with a copy of the original Triumph Service Manual, and Parts Catalogue as well as the Haynes shop manual. This is now a first kick bike and once warm idles very nicely. This bonnie has the original Black and Silver paint with beautiful hand done factory gold pinstriping - great shine with just the right patina that you'll know it's Original!! Engine is running great and with less than 10,000 original miles, has never been cracked. I've put a lot of elbow grease into making this bike look beautiful by hand buffing the aluminim side covers and polishing just about everything else, but it's not been fully restored, so it looks and feels like the 32 year old classic that it is. If you don't like to talk about motorcycles everywhere you go, don't bid, because I have people stopping me to talk about my beautiful Bonnie nearly everytime I'm out and about:-) Will assist with shipping, but is ultimately the responsibility of buyer On Mar-14-11 at 21:32:23 PDT, seller added the following information: 1979 Triumph Bonneville - Great condition and Low miles! If you don't like to talk about motorcycles everywhere you go, don't bid, because I have people stopping me to talk about my beautiful Bonnie nearly everytime I'm out and about:-) No major leaking, weeps on occasion, and I don't keep a pan or even cardboard under it. Very light spot rust spots on the rear fender (nothing that a little 000 steel wool wouldn't take care of - otherwise no rust. Tank is good and no flaking paint - minor heat cracking and some grazing as one would expect for a 32 year old Triumph. It's aged gracefully and I wouldn't re-paint as they're only original once. This bike runs strong 3 years ago my son (who was 13 at the time) and I rode 2-up to Willow Spring raceway from my house in Riverside California for the Vintage MC races and back home in the same day. That was 200 mile round trip with no worries. I've riden it to San Diego and Orange County and LA for bike events a bunch of times with never any problems. I always top off the oil and only use Mobil 1. Pull the plugs after a ride and they're a beautiful light coco brown just as they should be. Bike doesn't smoke even when cold. Recently had it stored for a year (as a result of having a new baby and starting a new business and no time to ride). When I went to get it started about a month ago for the first time, I replaced the battery(it's now on a trickle charger that will come with the bike), oil and gas, topped off the air, shot some carb cleaner in the carbs, and washed the whole bike. Then I opened the choke and it started on the first kick!! After I warmed up the engine by taking it on a 20minute ride, I readjusted the carbs and now it's running awesome. I would now ride it anywhere.
