Vehicle Detail
Meet the Marshmallow. She is a 1995 Cabrio with a modified drivetrain which includes a rebuilt 1.8 Turbo engine from a 1999 Passat AEG with the large port head, and a 5 speed manual gearbox from a 2007 Rabbit. This is a true custom car that is about 90% finished, and has been used as a daily driver in its current condition until February of 2011 when our new lease was delivered. She is being sold in favor of our new custom project, with a back seat the kids actually fit in. What the car needs to be really "done" and a great showpiece: A paint job that's all one color, after all minor body work is dealt with. There is some damage to the left rear quarter towards the bottom. The right center rocker has a welded repair patch where there was minor damage. The car has some surface rust that will need to be tended to prior to painting. The interior needs some TLC to include shortening the custom frame rails for the Saab seats and hooking up the heated seats. There is a gauge display with 3 gauges that is not the most attractive finish. Can either be repaired or replaced with the stock console from a local salvage yard very inexpensively.Shifter boot and knob need to be modified, replaced or custom made.A/C has not been recharged since installation of the heater core.Rear fog light from Porsche 911 was previously installed in the left rear but was regrettably stolen while the car was parked at a local train station. Mounting bracket is still on the car and a replacement lamp can be purchased at Automotion or any other retailer of Porsche parts.Because the transmission uses the ABS sensors rather than the old hall sender to send a speed signal, the speedometer does not work. There is a company working on an aftermarket fix for this (read up on the 6 speed conversion), or you can just use a TomTom.The fuse for the window motors has been tripping lately. Anybody familiar with the old Mark III door harnesses is probably familiar with this problem. This car has outstanding handling, acceleration and is a hell of a lot of fun to drive. Get a jump on this nearly complete true custom car in time to enjoy it with the top down this summer! The hard part has already been done, all you have to do is take care of the finishing details to your liking and enjoy this car for many years to come. Needless to say, there is a great deal of time and money invested in this project. Modifications, upgrades and maintenance as detailed below: Saab 9.5 Convertible full power leather seats. Heated seats need to be connected- switch and wiring harness installed in vehicle.Navy blue canvas top recently replaced, in excellent condition.Custom front fog lights by Hella. Windshield is less than 2 years old and in great condition. Alpine AM/FM/XM stereo receiver. The head unit is capable of receiving XM signals but no XM antenna or unit is included.Hood & front right fender replaced due to corrosion. Left front fender needs minor repair or replacement for similar issue.Timing belt and water pump replaced in November of 2010 with approx. 2k miles of driving since then. Full oil change done at the same time.New rear brake calipers and cablesHeater core replaced in summer of 2010 Bilstein front and rear struts with Neuspeed Softsport springsTechtonics Tuning custom stainless steel 2.5" exhaust with Borla stainless steel mufflerCustom high-flow 3 way catalytic converterTechtonics Tuning custom racing downpipe for conversion5 bolt conversion using 5x100 drilled and tapped OEM hubs for front. Wheel bearings were done at the same time as the timing belt.Tow hitch rated at 200lb tongue weight. More than enough power to pull a much larger trunk. ;)5x100 "donut" spare tire Shifter assembly from a Mark V JettaTransmission only has 2k original miles- not a rebuild! Originally from 2007 2.5L Rabbit. The gear ratio matches up very nicely with this engine.OEM Passat intercooler with custom tubing and pipesK&N cone air filterOEM ECU with no chipFront interior carpet from a 1990 CorradoSold with the car is a box of assorted spare parts All work performed by an ASE Certified Master Technician with over 18 years experience working with VW and Audi. The vehicle passed NJ inspection for both safety and emissions- see photo. Clean title, currently registered and insured in the state of New Jersey. The insurance on this vehicle will be dropped in the next 20 days. The car has 4 steel wheels with OEM VW hubcaps. While the tires do fit, they are slightly too tall and may rub the plastic inner fender on hard cornering. I would recommend using the steel wheels for snows and driving the car on 5x100 aluminum alloy wheels once you are done with her. This car can be available for pick-up in one of three places: northern NJ, eastern CT or western MA. CT and MA will have a minimal fee to cover fuel, tolls and time- contact seller if you are interested in either of these locations. Will deliver within 250 miles of NYC for a reasonable fee. Delivery will require a pre-determined fee based on time, fuel for 2 vehicles out and 1 coming back, and any tolls. A $500 dollar, non-refundable deposit is required before the car leaves the driveway in any circumstance. We have sold 5 cars through eBay, all with excellent feedback. Have also sold probably enough car parts to build a few more. Bid with confidence and know that you will receive an item that is accurately described. We are selling the vehicle because the older kid is too tall to fit in the back seat any more and are working on a new, roomier and much much faster custom car. Any questions, feel free to ask. Some questions too dumb to answer will be ignored. And, since I know at least one person will ask, all the hard mechanical work and fabrication to make this combination go has been done and done right, with over $5k invested in the project. All that is left to you are the finishing details. Serious bidders only. This car has sold at auction once already, to a buyer who "lost" his funding. If you're not prepared to buy it, don't bid. On Mar-11-11 at 18:07:13 PST, seller added the following information: Update note the vehicle is only available for pickup from the NJ location. We will no longer deliver the car to any location. this is due to the fact that the vehicle insurance has expired and we will not be renewing the policy.
