Vehicle Detail
For your consideration, here is this very early (prod. 10 or 11 1969) 1970 R-75/5 that I bought in '84, and over the period of 3 or 4 yrs. restored with over 12k (in Regan era dollars!) invested. It was silver/blue stripes when new. Already having finishes two /2 restorations I wanted to do somthing different with this one and I set out to build up a tastefully appointed, performance enhanced, yet basically stock appearing "sleeper" that would fill my daily driver spot. (the two earles fork bikes turned out so nice I hated to ride em much!) Black imron paint with gold stripes (dbbl on fenders/single line on tank), Mural on tank represents Viking travelers on a rough sea, with Thor the Thunder God himself, flying watchfully overhead. From the sides, the murals hardly noticable, only when you approach closely does it really come into view! GREAT detail in the ships head and the splashing of the waves. Top Line Art! All the little bits and pieces of hardware were chrome plated or polished..... but not to the point of overwhelming! No fully-polished valve covers, crankcases or brake backing plates here! (those parts need to be left alone for cooling purposes) Just enough Dazzle to make it "Shimmer" as you cruise thru the classic car show, and enough sparkle to make anyone who knows Beemers hold that second look long enough to see why it caught their eye! New brakes, cables, wheel and steering head bearings, spokes, nipples, and rims, rubber parts, wiring harness, grommets, plugs, etc. NOS longframe seat(fits good, hangs over a bit), German made "Piranna" S style fairing w/ new bubble, frame mounted crash bars with mounted Hella 140 driving lights (I like to see where I'm going!), Reynolds ride off,Hydraulic steering dampener,Dual Fiamms,Folding bar-ends,NOS speedo/tach w 118mi., 4 of those "hard to get" diecast early T/S reflectors, need I go on? front to back, top to bottom it was gone thru. Engine mods: Luftmeister 840cc big bore, lightend and balanced flywheel, dual plugged heads,SS larger intake and exhaust valves, guides(San Jose BMW),336 fact. sport cam,Dellorto PHF 36 carbs(Reg Pridmor),2into1 exhaust, eng. balanced, deep sump oil pan. Revs liks a Ferrari! Built to offer impressive accelleration! Presently has a small hole in lower edge of fuel tank (should'nt be a hard fix), new- in- box gel battery, gazeebo cycle cover,2-piece sheepskin seat cover and tank cover(Luftmeister), Also a pair of pretty decent Krauser bags and rack that came from an '84 R-80RT.A couple of boxes full of old parts, manuals, receipts, etc go along with. Bike has sat for a few years(Job) but ran strong when parked, turns over, good compression ,new battery and carb re-build last summer. Feel free to ask questions, and bid with confidence on this matching numbers head turner with a low reserve.
